Wild fire GM Paul Fenton after just one season
https://twitter.com/user/status/1156249827635802112
He was... not good as GM. The Niederreiter deal was unforgivable. His quote calling Zuccarello a lizard was pretty crazy too.

That sucks. He got fired before Tre got a chance to take advantage of him.

Seriously, this had to have been a contributing factor:

This is kind of funny. Remember how year in and year out people questioned why he never got a chance as a GM?
Well...

That hockey market deserves more success than they've seen since they entered the league.

I think Chiarelli will get another job- Winning a cup gets you probably one more chance when you probably don't deserve it.

I think his "one more chance" should have been considered his stint in Edmonton after trading Seguin. But hey, I'd love Chiarelli in Minnesota, he'd probably trade Zucker and Staal to the Flames for Stone and Frolik.

That seems like they are just rattling off names of recently out of work GM's.
Can't imagine Chiarelli is actually on anyone's list.

He was laughably bad
The Zucker stuff... getting the paper work in late... then asking for Boeser pretty much publicly
He didn’t just make bad moves he managed to come off as a complete idiot in only a single year

That's a shame, I don't like the Wild so it was nice seeing someone incompetent in charge.

If it was Zucker for Frolik and a first, it really wasn't that bad of a deal for Minnesota.
But there were rumours that it wasn't even for a first and if that is the case, than it would have been real bad.

This move isn't surprising, considering that Zach Parise opined to The Athletic a few days ago about how dissatisfied he was with the direction Fenton and the Wild were taking:
https://theathletic.com/1099792/2019...nt-and-future/
Quote:
This will be Parise’s 15th season, and he has voiced these concerns about his future and that of the team a number of times to GM Paul Fenton. He has also talked with owner Craig Leipold in an attempt to reiterate just how much his ambition is to win a Stanley Cup, preferably here in Minnesota.
...
“But you get to that point where you want to win. That’s all you want to do. Trust me, we’d all love to win here. I think this place would be absolute insanity if we won here. So that’s the goal. I mean, I just don’t know. Let’s put it this way, they haven’t come to me asking if I want to get traded somewhere.
“We love everything about Minnesota. It’s just the hockey part lately has been difficult.”

This is really odd timing. Have to wonder why now? Did he take a trade to ownership that they vetoed? Player revolt? More to the story than meets the eye I知 sure. Hope the reasons get leaked.

wow, i was surprised to see that zach is that old already.
to me the timing is odd - sort of in the middle of summer

The owners found out the Rask they traded for wasn't Tuukka.

I don't even understand what the lizard thing even means.
If ever there was a team to deserve Chiarelli, it's the Wild. I know there not really a rival and don't do anything 'bad'. But I just can't stand how they always seem to hang around, sometimes snag a playoff spot, then never advance. They were also one of the first teams to sign players to stupid 13 year contracts with Parise and Suter and really open the floodgates for those kind of deals.
