Default Reccommend some full albums for me

I just got a new head unit installed in my car that has vastly increased the musical capabilities of said vehicle. My old system was okay, but it was a bit antiquated - no Aux, no bluetooth, and while it did MP3 Cd's it was a relatively small screen so navigating folders was a pain. As a result I basically just used actual, old-school audio CD's, one album per disc, in the CD changer.

But no more. Now I have lots of ways to make sound come out of my driving apparatus. In conjunction with this most glorious occasion, I am looking for new music to listen to. I turn to you, CP, bastion of occasional tidbits of useful cultural insight.

Used to be I'd either get suggestions or go through "Best of 20XX" lists and pick things out and download them, and maybe 1/4 tries, I'd find an album I liked. But It's been slim pickings lately. So I need some pointers to find the diamonds in the significant volume of rough.

For context, here are the things I will have playing in my car on a regular basis. If you can read this list and think "he will like X", tell me about X, and I will be in your debt.

Apparently we like the exact same music.

Heard the new St.Vincent? You'll dig it for sure.

I run a music store, let me get into work and I'll refresh my memory.

What music store?

+1 on St. Vincent.

So far this year I also like the new Beck, Drive-By Truckers and The Men.

OP - this station plays the kind of music you like:

Apps like Songza and Rdio can direct you to other artists based on the ones you like.

Hrm, no. I have Actor somewhere and had Marry Me a while ago. I enjoyed both in parts but they didn't stick with me, not consistent enough back to front. I never got the last one, so maybe I should get that and the new one, and listen to both. I shall. See, success already.

Awesome. Lay them on me. See CP is a source for expertise in everything.

Re: Troutman, I shall try those, thanks. I've never had much luck with those songza-type "if you like this you'll like _____" programs, they seem very hit and miss.

I knew I wouldn't be able to help as soon as I saw the National and Sigur Ros.

Here's what got:

New/RecentISH Albums:
Inside Llewyn Davis Soundtrack
Arctic Monkeys - AM
Atoms for Peace - Amok
Black Lips - Underneath the Rainbow
Haim - Days are Gone
Portugal the man - Evils Friends
San Fermin
Typhoon - White Lighter
Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City

Bands you should generally check out if you haven't:
Kurt Vile
Bat for Lashes
AU
Beirut
Elliott Brood
Father John Misty
My Brightest Diamond
Lord Huron
Head & the Heart
The Zolas

Bands similar to what you seem to like, but with more of a heavier feel (but still easy):
Titus Andronicus
Mister Heavenly
Thee Oh Sees

Some of it you might not like, but I think you'll at least find a handful of stuff in that list you enjoy. Black Lips is a big one for me, but as far as newer bands go, Lord Huron really impressed me with their 2012 album.
