There is definitely going to be some more salty comments from the opposition fan base after that. I love it. This kid is a beast and is already more of a tonic for this team than we could have ever hoped.

At 4:10 - is it actually true that Iginla was nominated for the Masterson because of the Avalanche? That's awesome. Some Dubnyk material there

"It was a hockey play"

Exactly. Except usually the other guy doesn't go down like he was shot in the face with a sniper rifle.

He must have known that it was more shoulder or something else that actually made contact to say that.

Maybe Doughty is a big ol' actor.

Alright lets pretend you're not watching the same game as me and you don't see Gaudreau hovering around aimlessly in the defensive zone until the puck is going the other way.

You realize all I said was I think Tkachuk will pass Gaudreau in development and not that Gaudreau is a bad player or anything? The reason I said he is a turnover machine is that when he is not on his style of play leads to bad turnovers often and you know the difference between acceptable turnover and the Gaudreau turnovers Im talking about when his dipsy doodling doesnt work. Tkachuk contributes more when hes having a bad game because he's better defensively, has an edge and can throw his body around.

Don't see the reason for the outrage. People should want Tkachuk to be better than Gaudreau. That would be the best thing that could happen for this team.

You said he was a liability in his own zone and listed turnovers as a reason why. NEB corrected you pointing out that the guys who lead the league in that stat tend to be the guys who have the puck the most anyways, and listed other star players who are at the top of the giveaway list.

You were wrong and your reasoning was poor. Just own it.

As for who is top dog on the team.. who cares. Sometimes Gaudreau is, sometimes Monahan is, sometimes Hamilton is, sometimes Elliot etc etc. One guy being the clear best player won't work for this team (or any) and the idea of a player "passing" another is a little too simple IMO.

Own what? He is a liability defensively especially compared to Tkachuk. Theres also a big difference in turnovers when Gaudreau is dipsy doodling through the neutral zone vs. when he's making good hockey plays that dont work out. Tkachuk is less prone to making those types of mistakes so far in his career.

I agree that it doesn't matter who is top dog. I think the prospect of Tkachuk having 2 more seasons before hes the age Gaudreau was when he entered the league is exciting AF. It'd be even better if Gaudreau and him were battling for the team lead in points from here on in.

That play where he put it between his legs twice including the shot was a thing of beauty.

nothing earth shattering, but there has been lots of talk in the news and sports radio the past few days about the local boy coming home to play in his dads old stomping grounds

He is absolutely unbelievable; and deserves to be honored for being part of the contributory force in the 3M line.

The 3M line is now featured in the Flames locker room hallway. Guess that means they won't be disbanded anytime soon!

Spoiler!

I guess as the old adage goes 'if it's not broke don't fix it'. Although I still think Janko would be a good fit there.
