Overall a good first period, the Neal Mangi Ryan line really looked to be getting some nice chances. All lines were getting looks and really Crawford is the only reason this isn’t 3-1 if not 4, guy is rediculous out there. Lots of fun to watch.

I trust coach and if he thinks that Smith should be in net, then so be it. I think it's fair to say he's done fairly well with position management so far this year. I am gonna go out on a limb and try and get comfortable with Mr. Belly Flop Stop. He's made some great saves so far. (crossing fingers, knocking on wood, sign of the cross, avoiding all black cats)

Last 5 periods (ignoring the OT), the Flames have given up the following shots:

6
4
5
5
6

Sadly though, they have given up 3 goals.

What's Smith's save Percentage? Whats the save Percentage of the guy at the other end of the ice?

Whose made more quality saves?

Right...

I normally don't drink much beer, due to being diabetic, however, I am lifting a Sam Adams' Octoberfest to sharing an entertaining period of hockey with my friends, here at CalPuck!

No one's arguing that. But Smith hasn't been bad, so why harp on it?

Lindholm has 27 points. It's december 2. Ask a Canes fan if they thought this was possible.

I think on the Chicago goal, Toews was trying to pull it across and Hamonic coming back hit the puck causing it to go 5 hole. Not on Smith.

Thought there could have been a couple calls on the Hawks there - Kane and Kruger in particular.

Also, that ice is embarrassing.

There is also the possibility that both are playing well.

Smith gave up a breakaway goal to one of the Hawks top 2 players.........and stopped another one to their other best player. Overall he's played well.

Why not just enjoy the game? Smith is playing well, the team is playing well and it's a fun game to watch. Just enjoy it instead of trying to convince all of us that Smith was the problem that period. He was fine.

True on all counts, however, if the ice was better at the UC, I cannot even imagine how many career points Kane could have had.

It's kind of hard to make an honest comparison with the shot differential and the ratio of quality chances at this point.
