This is kind of off topic, but I noticed that in the most recent episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David kept mentioning "recording hockey games" and asking people whether they have the "NHL Package"
It seemed very unnatural. It also seems apparent that the NHL is paying the show to mention them.
And this is the case for gambling on the Fan 960. The amount of gambling talk seems unnatural. The guests seem to only be their to promote their sites.

There were moments in that interview where I figured (and I'm sure the hosts did too) that he shouldn't be saying what he's saying or came close to saying something he shouldn't. Thats the absolute joy of a Conroy interview.

Speaking of all the 960 gambling talk, does anyone find it bizarre that one of their football gambling experts is Jordan “the web guy.” Literally a guy who sits down the hall employed to update the 960 web site.
How do we fill some time in the next segment? Why not get Steve from accounts receivable talk about escrow on air for 15 minutes.
Amateur hour as usual.

Ugh. Now they’re saying “veg” too! If the gambling banter wasn’t enough, now they’re saying “veg” instead of vegetables or veggies. I thought they were better than this.

It's like a Norm Macdonald interview: the hosts are on edge it's going to go off the rails every time, but also can't get enough, and it's a wildly entertaining segment

The medium is dead and this is the only way to keep the lights on at this point. The only hangers on are diehard Flames fans and even at that rate I can't take more than 15 minutes of it at once. In that short span you are bound to get 5 minutes of gambling, an unwanted news update about nothing important you don't already know, and then a lengthy break to commercial.
I'll take a podcast with maybe 2-3 minutes of spot placements in an hour-two hour segment any day of the week. It's too bad it has gotten to this point that it is unlistenable, but what should we expect when they have no budget to work with to hire and retain quality staff for segments beyond the drive to and from work?

Which begs the question, why do they still resist having a stockton heat hour 2-3 times a week where they can bring in members of the team, coaches etc and talk about week/player performance.....these aren't exactly huge ideas that would be costly and timely to put together here either!

Hopefully they put the whole thing online, but really worth the listen. Wasn't expecting that on a Friday morning. Like the boys on the radio, not our story to tell, but in a nutshell
- got covid, headed to the ER, docs gave him 30 seconds to call his wife before being intubated
- in a coma two weeks, had a couple of close calls apparently, including pneumonia
- made it out, but his whole body atrophied where he couldn't even hold a phone or brush his teeth. Really was an ordeal recovering
Everyone got choked up at the end.

Did he discuss his vaccination status?
Glad he pulled through. Had a co-worker go through something similar in April, and is just getting back to work.
