Vadim Shipachyov trying to get out of his contract with Vegas
Aivis Kalniņš @A_Kalnins
Appears as Vadim Shipachyov and his camp are looking to find a way to get back to the KHL.
Vegas put he and his $4.5 million deal in the AHL to start the season (he's waiver-exempt) so, naturally, he's getting unhappy with this whole situation. Will be an interesting one to follow for the Knights.

Ooops. Kinda early for GM GM to start losing pieces for free isn't it?

Why in the hell would he put him in the AHL when they are short on forwards?? Brutal.
I get that he's waiver exempt but the GM needs to swallow his medicine and lose in a trade for one of his plethora of NHL D.

Presumed this would happen at some point, but not less than a week into the season

Can't really blame him. They promised him a top 6 role on the team if he signed there and then dumped him to the AHL where I heard he has not even played yet.

I was honestly in awe of the terrible decisions he made during that draft. I know what he was attempting to do of getting good young talent that you can win long term with, but he really got nowhere near that outcome, and instead has a bunch of guys in the minors that deserve to be on the team. He just overplayed his hand...

Did he earn a place on the team? He shouldn't be guaranteed a place if he wasn't good enough.
This is where if a team and player agree, they should mutually be able to cancel or cut up a contract if he wants to bolt. He probably wants to leave and still get paid.

I don't think he ever got a chance.

Isn't there a little thing called an out clause? Perhaps his agent failed him eh?

Remember when McPhee was hired and lots of people said "he's not a bad GM because of the Forsberg trade, think of all the other good moves he made"?
He's a bad GM. I wouldn't have butchered this expansion draft this bad.

^Yes Cody, I can think of at least 10 CPers alone who would have done a better job at that draft, and they have no qualifications whatsoever to be an NHL GM.
If the job you've done is that obviously bad, it's hard to imagine staying in that position very long.

There was a ton of fantasy expansion drafts put out there by a lot of smart hockey people. None of them anything like the one GM GM did. Seemed like he pulled a feaster, thought he was the smartest in the room and now it's biting him. Too bad because it could put the Knights in a bad place for a long time.

I think he agreed to too many backroom deals and didn't get enough out of it.
The draft was designed to give the franchise a great start. Too bad it's completely botched now.
Personally I didn't like the fact that backroom deals were even allowed, much less having it screw up the draft as bad as it did.
