is so much movement in the CHL typical every year? Maybe i just happen to be following more CHL folk on my twitter, but it seems like a lot of player trades happening this year.

Yes it is common.

The CHL can only keep players until 20 and the very top players go to on to pro as soon as they can. On average most players only play in the league for 2-3 years.

Turnover on players is high and windows to win something are small, so teams go for it if they feel they have a chance.

Good to see the flames prospects are on the teams trading for a big push!

Also much easier to make trades in the CHL when you don't have to consider salary cap ramifications and long term contracts!

The Broncos currently have 5 out of the top 20 point per game players in the entire WHL.

1. Hepponiemi (2.50)
2. Steenbergen (2.26)
4. Gawdin (1.83)
12. Estpehan (1.49)
20. Gennaro (1.38) <-1.71 in 17 games with Swift Current

That's called loading up. Skinner has been inconsistent as heck this year, and down right terrible at times. (I think it's because of the oiler stink he's got on him now) If he finds his form though, they have a great chance of going all the way to the Memorial Cup.

Victoria Royals did a couple of moves.

They acquired Lane Zablocki (DET 2017 3rd) but this move seems to offset the loss of Eric Florchuk who they traded for a couple of 1st round picks.

Despite the real possibility that Phillips and Tyler Soy will be going to pro next season, they have decided to do minor tweaks and acquire picks for the future.

edit:

Forgot they acquired Noah Gregor (SJ 2016 3th), Jeff de Witt, Joel Gryzbowski and Kade Jensen earlier in the season.

^^^The Royals have also acquired Tanner Kaspick from Brandon now.

For a 15 year old, 16 year old and two 1st round picks.

Joly had an empty net goal and an assist on the game winner in a 3-0 win.

Looks like Sarnia has decided to keep Ruzicka and Ang at C. For the last 2 games Ryshma has been moved to Ang's RW and Kyrou has been put on Ruzicka's RW.

So far Ruzicka has only picked up 1a in 2 games since having Kyrou on his wing.

Gawdin had 2g 1a in a 4-0 victory. Wasn't even one of the 3 stars, lol.

Gawdin is probably the Flames best right shooting forward prospect at this point. I'm curious to see what he does in the AHL next year.

The best part about Ruzicka's 4 points tonight?

His lone assist was primary and all 4 points were recorded 5v5. Also recorded 9 shots on net.

Spectacular outing

It is kind of the expected offence from him now that Sarnia has Kyrou and Pezzetta on his wings at even strength for the last few games.

He should be racking up the points to tell you the truth, on paper that should be one of the best lines in the OHL. Lets hope this is the start of a long streak.

Absolutely he should. But that line has only been together for 3 games so small sample size.

He went on a looong dry spell after his hot start to the season (although a ton of his production came from the PP) but it's nice to see a dominant game like this. Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

Dube played his first game for the Rockets tonight since early December. Of course, just in time to play my favorite junior team the Hurricanes. He had 7 shots, 1 goal, and assisted on the OT winning goal.

Ruzicka staying hot another goal tonight. Sarnia leads 2-0 end of the 1st. Sault Ste Marie is the best team in the OHL right now, having lost only 3 games in regulation. A strong game here would be a statement.

Another 2 goals for Adam Ruzicka tonight. Back to back GWG's. 5 goals, 1 assist his last 2 games. All have come during 5v5 play.
