Finally got around to watching the Haunting of Hill House, and it was amazing! I enjoyed the hell out of it. A lot of great choices in making it, some episodes in particular that blew me away with their really long scenes with zero cuts. One of them went on for like 15+ minutes. Really impressive and spooky. Highly recommend.
Started watching the Haunting of Bly Manor last night and I'm struggling to get into that one, but same director & some of the same actors so I have faith that it'll be well done too.
I actually liked Haunting of Bly Manor more, but I think I'm in the minority there. It is definitely not fast-paced, but one of those shows where you have to think a bit to figure out what is happening..
I don't get bored or aggravated watching even though the show is predictable. For whatever reason I tend to be hyper aware of colour grading, it feels off to me.
Maybe they are going for "The Matrix" look but it could use some personality.
The Fugitive combined with Wolverine and/or Captain America and a bunch of other shows and concepts. I'm not doing a good job of describing it because it's not easy.
Much different vibe, I like it.
Episode 2
Spoiler!
That was GREAT. Show is more Jason Bourne James Bond The King's Man than what I described above. Great reveal have to admit didn't see it coming.
The score is fantastic.

Keep in mind The Matrix was heavily inspired by Gibson's earlier work.
I found it interesting when looking at the inspiration for The Matrix that Neuromancer wasn’t cites by the Wachkowskis. After I finished reading it, I was like, “was The Matrix based off this?”.

Gibson called VR in the book the Matrix. So ya, possibly!
One thing I like about this show is it really captures Gibson's voice. I haven't read The Peripheral but the dialog in the show is so on point to his writing, as are the scenes, pacing, and situations. I've been a big Gibson fan for 20 years, so it's nice to see this on the screen.

I don't know why I like this show, as the plots are nonsensical (not Python-esque, but just dumb), but I do. Likely the humour. It comes off like they have excellent comedic writers to do the jokes and the satirical social commentary while the serious bits are done by a drunk intern who uses 80s action movies as a template.
Great show! Love Stephen Merchant and wish he was in more things

Was West World based off of something by Gibson? I find The Peripheral to be incredibly reminiscent of West World in the writing and the direction/cinematography.

Westworld was written by Michael Crichton, but Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are Executive Producers of The Peripheral and they were the creators and EPs of the Westworld HBO series.
