What is Going On? Multiple spam calls to my cell # in 3 hours today?

This is just plain downright weird.

I received 3 obvious spam calls in under 3 hours today.

443-784-0878 - Maryland

498-561-5991 - have no idea where this one comes from

432-786-2790 - Texas - I mistakenly picked this one up and they claimed they were from Revenue Canada. Hmmm....Revenue Canada calling from Texas? LOL.

Anyone else experiencing a rash of spam calls today or recently or am I just the privileged one?

For the past week everyone has seen a large influx of spam calls.

If you've ever responded back to a political text, decided to pick up to yell at the bitcoin scammer or generally ever responded to an unknown number that signified you are a human, you've likely been signed up to a million other call lists instantaneously.

I've had the same issues the past month. Tons of numbers calling me from unknown places. I'm sure it's not a coincidence that the day I picked up a number from the "CRA" that suddenly my number got activated somewhere.

Luckily the big carrier are apparently being required to add software to their networks to block calls like this. I thought it was supposed to happen some time ago but appears to be now.

Maybe scammers are trying to get in as many calls as they can before the door hopefully slams shut?

Spent a week in New Orleans and now I am getting inundated with calls from NO area codes. Everything is a scam when it comes to your phone.

I am loving the Google Call Screening. Just hit screen call and they hang up 9 times out of 10.

It came with my pixel. It doesn't screen out the revenue Canada fake calls though because they are spoofed to come from a legit area code and number.

Had to install an app to deal with the annoying number of spam calls that started this month...

You can set it to only allow your phone to accept calls from numbers in your contact list. So far, working perfectly. I can see in the log it blocked 5 calls today.

Just a ton of call this past few weeks. Once i see them I just block them. That list is getting pretty big.

It's been fun trying out this feature with the spam calls, but only one actually had a human being respond back to it. I used the "I can't understand" response to see what they would say, but they hung up.

I've had to block 2 Ontario area codes in the last week after so many calls, all from different numbers. How do the spammers get access to so many unique numbers?

They can pick any number they want to appear on the caller id.

I have no idea why but I got one spam call a couple of weeks ago (iPhone, ancient) but that’s the only one I can remember in the last couple of years.
