Looks like the Giants have fallen back down to earth.
Yeah, the Mets are now just 0.5 games back.

Oddly enough Arizona who are a game over the 500 mark by far have the best run differential of all the teams in that mix. But the Mets have really made up a lot of ground in their last 12 games.

Eventually I think this one will pare itself down a bit, but right now there are a lot of teams who could claim one of the two spots.

The sound of it is cliche to me. The concept looks cool. I hope they can play without fans there. That would be eerily neat. Thousands of fans in a field? Seems like it wouldn’t be peaceful. I’d also like to see something like that in the NHL. Would be cool but without gate revenue no chance this is the case.

Ronald Acuña Jr. is the 3rd player in MLB history to have a 30 home runs and 25 stolen bases in their age-21 season or younger.

The other two players to do so are Mike Trout (2012) and Andruw Jones (1998). A 40/40 season might be possible.

Alvarez is incredible for the Astros. Another 3 HR and 7 RBI’s.

Gleyber Torres has 13 homers this year...against just Baltimore. Yeah the Orioles suck but that's still pretty amazing.

Brian Snitker is an idiot. You have to let Soroka try and finish that inning. Yikes

The Braves bullpen is terrible, however he is culpable for some of the issues. He’s terrible with how he handles it.

Astros favored by largest margin in any baseball game for at least the last 15 years tonight at -550.

And lost.

These white uniforms are awful. Nothing wrong with trying something but with the white gloves, batting helmets etc. it just doesn’t look like a big league game.

And with the black uniforms, it looks like the umpires are playing in the field.

Yeah these uniforms are awful this weekend. You have the Yankees and Dodgers who play each other seldomly playing in gimmick uniforms.

@JeffPassan:
Just an awful tragedy: The wife and child of Blake Bivens, a Double-A pitcher in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, were among three people killed in rural Virginia on Tuesday, sources tell ESPN. Police have charged Bivens' wife's brother with first-degree homicide.

His mother in law as well.

The arrest of the brother was bizarre, and all over the internet yesterday. Just an absolutely awful story.

I, for one, am shocked the Mets started losing games like crazy once they stopped playing the Pirates, Marlins and White Sox....

Yeah similar thing with Cleveland too although not quite as dramatic.

There are still 5 NL teams within 4 games a the second wild card. But less track left and a larger gap than there was a month ago. The Nationals have put a bit of distance between them and the rest lately. They do have as good of a top 3 as anyone in the NL and Juan Soto and Anthony Rendon are a lesser know 3-4 duo that match up with anyone. Chicago should be the other team but they seem to slip out of top gear and stumble every so often. But I don't see Philly or anyone else being able to overtake the Cubs in this last month.

The AL looks to be a three team dog fight as one game separates Tampa Bay, Oakland, and Cleveland. The Indians could still catch the Twins as they play each other 6 times. But Minnesota finish with 13 games against the White Sox, Royals, and Tigers. The A's have 4 games left with Houston and everyone else they play is sub .500. I think it will end up Oakland and Tampa Bay. Cleveland have 12 games left against winning teams amd Tampa has 8.
