Why is David Staples working as a media member when he hasn't heard of certain players?

I hope this means Flyers are calling up some guys from the AHL and giving them a good look. Please no panic trades; focus on strengthening next year.

Chia loves that waiver wire. Each claim buys him a new toy distraction period of a few days as the writers put out their usual articles on why the latest pickup is a brilliant hidden gem.

I know nothing of Colby, but can he really be any better than Zyklov?

Stupid me. I didn't even get his last name right. These two posts have probably exceeded the amount of posts necessary about Colby Cave.

I like how the name Colby Cave has the same alliteration as Chuck E. Cheese. That is all.

Umh. When did Staples EVER do this?

There goes the last of their cap space.

I would ask how are they planning to improve the team when they can't take in any salary, but it's the Oilers. They don't need a plan to make moves.

I enjoy his chart at the bottom which has the Oilers ahead on Grade A chances overall. They have a -13 goal differential, a below 50% Corsi and per Natural Stat Trick they are -54 on High Danger Corsi at all strengths. Seems like some reliable not at all biased info there.

How can all of the wingers be a + in Grade A chances, but all the defensemen be a - ?

Unless I am not understanding what the stat is, that is mathematically impossible.

It seems like the Oilers make a ton of waiver claims

They really can't do much else. To get value you have to give value. They can't trade one of their three good players, because the fans will howl, plus they will lose the trade. They can't move a pick for a good player because that just increases their cap over the limit. So all Chia can do is trade his garbage and look at waivers in the hopes someone magically turns it around and he looks like a genius.

I personally can't wait for the next fabricated Oilers milestone where they once again bring all those that have worn the jersey onto the ice. The great Cave and Zyklov will join the legendary skaters like Stortini and Kassian.

Probably because mistakes by a defenseman are more likely to be "major mistakes". Which is not at all to validate that chart. Seems incredibly subjective
