no rhythm, bad bounces, terrible refs (flames were 2-9 combined with these 2 refs last season while the knights were 7-1), and an inability to recover the puck in their own zone and break out with control. on another night maybe they take it to ot. hoping for a more inspired effort against arizona

Missed the game. Who was Neal playing with? Frolik/Ryan again?

This is the most pathetic horrible garbage team and I hate them...until they win and the they're the best ever!
I hate being a bipolar Flames fan, its great!

Meh... Vegas just wanted it more, and seemed more emotionally invested. Calgary didn't look dangerous enough - just not enough really good looks out there. Vegas did well in the neutral zone, and Fleury was just really good when he had to be.
On to Phoenix.

Wow. That's pretty telling. Maybe those two should be separated. Pretty abysmal stuff tonight from the guys in stripes, even if the flames didn't show up like we're used to from them.

Anybody else in Vegas need to drink/gamble away the memory of tonight’s game? Thought it was a pretty poor effort tonight. Shot totals seemed pretty generous for us

Scoring Winger

I'm not sure what the answer is with the current roster. My proposal continues to be Jankowski on the wing as while he's not as big of a hitter as Ferland, he does remind me of a Higher IQ Joe Colborne who wasn't bad at that role in 2015-16.

Honest question. Am I mis remembering Ferland. I don’t remember him being physical last year at all. I remember him having the ability to be but wasn’t and it being super frustrating. Outside that series in 2015 I can’t
Even remember him being a physical player as he didn’t seem to hit anyone

Well at least they have a chance right away to get back on the horse against Phoenix. If they play like they have been lately they shouldn't have too much trouble with Phoenix. Though I wonder if they let Smith start against Phoenix.

On a positive note, the oilers on the way to a shutout got scored on late and then lost in OT.

Vegas was motivated tonight after Tkachuk taunted them on Monday. Fleury was great and the Flames had used up their bounces earlier this week.

A team that just went to the Finals came back with a strong response after the blowout loss. Vegas was tough and Fleury was outstanding.
I actually liked Monahan away from Gaudreau in the third. Monahan is fantastic but he over relies on Gaudreau to drive the play. Giving Monahan less to work with forces him to do his own heavy lifting.
This was the first game in a while that I've really been able to watch and focus on, and I was struck by how much I liked all of the lines once they went into a blender.
Johnny-Lindholm-Chucky
Bennett-Backlund-Neal
Dube-Monahan-Ryan
Czarnik-Jankowski-Hathaway
All four lines were noticable in good ways during the third period. This is what actual depth looks like; there's a vast gap between these changes and the deck chair reshufflings we've become accustomed to.
Rittich was great again. He held the line at 2-0, and the team looks confident with him in the cage. He's the new number one.
All six defensemen were really good. We're going to lose one to Seattle.
Jankowksi is finally asserting himself on the ice. He's bigger, stronger and faster than most guys in the league, he's got crazy reach, nice hands and thinks the game well. It's just taking him a lifetime to realize he is all of these things.
Vegas/Arizona with Friday/Saturday/Sunday in Phoenix seems like a pretty cherry road trip.

Our best goal scorer is not moving to the third line because we lost one game.
We also didn't lose because we don't have a goon

I'm personally not too worried. Vegas was bound to come out and respond after the last game. They played really well. Caglary wasn't a pushover by any means, but Vegas was on top of it tonight.

Meh, a bit of puck luck correction and a determined Knights team=this loss. Not going to score at will and win every game. Fleury was amazing. On to AZ.
