If so, I will take the James Neal from 4 years ago, maybe Mike Smith too. I'll take the 26 year old Lucic from the Bruins...Come to think of it, Iginla was still really effective at that time...

You don’t enjoy watching positive Flames highlights from the past?
That’s one of the weirdest things I’ve heard a sports fan say.

And ya he actually plays a harder game now than he did back then.

Do you think that first is going to be the next Getzlaf or something? Do you not think Ferland makes this a much better playoff team?
|
I don't think Ferland is a player that will take this team to the next level. If we're going all in - Go after Schenn/Simmonds IMO.
Will he be an effective game changer on the 3/4th line? No way in hell he's going to be back on the 1st, 3M line clicking on the 2nd.
I think the Flames need to manage their draft picks. We need to restock our prospect pool and trading away 1st round picks doesn't help that.

For an inconsistent player on pace for 48 point season you would pay a first? Not a chance in hell

Taking a while to get to 5000

Also haven't you already spent the 1st on Jake Muzzin?

Ferland is a much better option than Simmonds IMO. I wouldn't trade a first for Simmonds.
I would love for Flames to get Schenn but that will cost much more than a first.

In a contract year with his history? NO WAY he plays like that again
Ferland would rather stay with the Canes, have a good season, and miss the playoffs IMO. Collect 5Mx5 or something in the summer, can't say I blame him

Hes on a 53 point pace but good math, 2.9 hits/game which is a career high for him.

These are just 2 good options that I would like to see. This seems like a good year to take a good run at the cup wouldn't you say? What if we hold onto the late first and the team falls apart next year?

lol serious? he already is playing like that. Why do some people here think Ferland is soft garbage now?
Miss the playoffs? wow. Another fantastic playoffs on top of this career year is what will get him paid

Ferland "wanting" to miss playoffs to get paid in offseason is ridiculous. Not to mention he doesn't have a choice where he goes.

I would take Ferland back in a heartbeat. No question about it. No, Ferland can't play like he did against the Canucks every game - heck, Ferland vs the Canucks couldn't keep that up, and was injured in the Anaheim series. It is not humanely possible.
He did, however, continually lead the team in hits. He stuck up for his teammates. He was a solid 200ft player. He did score rather well, and was the ONLY player since Hudler to have any sort of chemistry with Gaudreau and Monahan, until he was replaced with Lindholm. He possesses a wicked shot.
The one and only thing that is concerning to me is his concussion history. Other than that, there isn't a team in the NHL that wouldn't want to add a guy like Ferland into their lineup.

No he's not. He's played 39 and Carolina only has 36 left so there's no way to play 82.

If the Flames acquired Ferland he'd play on the 3rd line and he's shown no ability to put up points when not with elite players. I'll pass.
