I drove past a temporary political sign yesterday that was asking residents for feedback on the upcoming federal budget and it was put up by Michelle Rempel's team. What was really interesting was to see how far removed she is now from the CPC. The sign looked very "independent" as it did not have the traditional CPC blue scheme and there was no CPC logo or anything.
. It is my understanding that the Trudeau foundation has seen quite an influx of foreign donations
. Also the amount of donations flowing from Vancouver to the Papineau Riding Foundation
I really think the government needs to lift the veil on the methods used by China to allow the average citizen to be vigilant against it
I'm not defending anything here and I think the current special rapporteur investigation is laughably impotent to look into what looks to be a serious issue.
Aside from that, why is the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation a political football here? I'm not seeing anything that would allow Justin to benefit from these donations. Like, it seems to be a normal non-profit doing what it's supposed to? It's financials are public and seems to be governed appropriately
It's quite different form the Donald J Trump Foundation which was quite literally operating as a tax free revenue and spending account for DJT. Am I missing something?
20 years since Chretien publicly announced refusal to join the US in invading Iraq. A good choice.
At around 3:50 of the video Chretien also makes an interesting comment about forming his relationship with Clinton. He says
Quote:
"I told him clearly that I wanted to be independent. He was very shocked, and I said 'Mr. President, I don't want to be too close to you, because I want to be able to look independent, and if I look independent and the people think I'm independent' I said 'I will be able to do for you what the CIA cannot do'.
He then goes on to say that on many occasions he was very useful to them.
I wish that had been unpacked more regarding the context of US-Canada relations at the time and expectations around that relationship and the relevance of even mentioning the CIA in it.

Chrétien couldn’t have played that better, honestly. It was a bit of an awkward situation as I recall as it was almost implied Canada had to go. As time unfolded it became clear it was a boondoggle costly catastrophe of epic proportions.

to me the optics of all of this foreign money coming into the trudeau foundation seem questionable - even moreso against the back drop of chinese interference and money rolling into the Papineau Riding association from Vancouver
Everything could be fine.
I was initially laughing at the appointment of the special rapper; however, i am now thinking what a great distraction this is from the real issue of did the PM know, and if he did not who made the decision not to tell him - the answers seem obvious......

But for real, I don't get the point of the tweet. It's like when some random person posts on Reddit "You are a wonderful person, you are beautiful and you are loved". Like dude, you don't even know these people, at least one of them could be a hateful, ugly arsehole. It couldn't mean less coming from you. /GMG
Who knows, but when Mackenzie went to PP's office they had no record of the offering. But you know Trudeau said that he was going to consult with the opposition leaders in terms of the special rapper, and there's no record of that consultation either.
