Hope it all goes well for ya UCB.
Make sure you have a few questions.
Don’t be afraid at the end to clearly say you’re a good fit, you’re excited and keen at the opportunity, you want the job, and can you reach out end of next week for an update if you haven’t heard back. Shows you’re keen and accountable.
And of course the next day send a thank you note and specifically address something positive even if it’s simply their engagement.
Let us know how it goes!

Eh, Seeming that desperate as a more mature skilled worker (first interview in 20 years) probably isn’t a great move. That seem more appropriate as a junior to try and keep your name at the front of line. At this point they should be selling to you how good of an opportunity it would be as you are selling yourself as a valuable candidate. Especially if you are currently employed.

Having been through a couple career counselors, quite a few courses, and having a fairly good success rate at interviews, and being 20+ yrs working my experience has shown this to be an effective technique - it’s called closing the deal. Of course done the wrong way it could be creepy, or desperate as you say. It’s all in the context and setup. If you were interviewing wouldn’t you appreciate hearing from a prospect why they thought it was a good fit and that they were very interested?

I’m glad this thread popped up on the first page. I’m going through a tough time at work and maybe looking at leaving. Its nice to know that I’m not the only one out there that hasn’t had an interview in a long time,20 yrs just one quick 5min talk when I changed positions.

I think RR has valid points. I think it’s important to show genuine interest and enthusiasm at the conclusion of the interview. It needs to be genuine of course and not forced.
@Bleeding Red, belated congrats. I’ve had times where I had a long period between contracts and had similar wonders about getting back into the swing of things. I found I tried to be extra focused the first couple weeks and that helped me get ramped up faster and back into it. The riding a bike analogy seems to apply for the most part. Your job search summary seems very familiar as it is ahem - a process. I feel like every time I landed a new gig it was preceded by that type of cycle. Once you’re getting interviews that often seems to be the tipping point. It can get very annoying though…and then of course once you land a gig you end up getting seemingly numerous calls. Where were those people months ago!?!

I've been on the job for 1 week, and sure enough I received an interview request today.
I felt a little.....happy/apprehensive/FOMO...when I sent the "thanks, but I'm employed now" reply. (Like the meme with the couple and the guy is checking out the girl passing by)
You are right, when it rains, it pours.
Cheers

Using my extensive knowledge of infomercials, this is most likely anal leakage and not sweat

What same old antics? I don't get the animosity you have towards me. I even wished you well on your job hunt and until the mosque thread never had any other interactions with you and now you've made it your mission to follow me around and thank any post criticizing me so what's your problem? I don't have one with you.

I'm coming up on month 4 of a new job. In a lead role for construction in BC. It's a huge opportunity but damn it's hard not being home or getting many days off.
Got a follow up from Enbridge last week that was odd. I applied 4 months ago, had an internal reference and an external reference that has known the hiring manager for 30 years. Said they were interested but selected someone from in the company.
Now, I'm getting invited to download an app, interview myself on camera and mail it in. I'm a bit disappointed here, as I wanted a more personal response, not an HR tool like this. I don't feel comfortable with them keeping 20 minutes of me either. Anyone been through this?
