So the fact that we dropped under our target on a rainy day tells us that the problem is people still watering their lawns/gardens?

Or children running through sprinklers. We should probably ban all children and see how that goes.

Typical showerheads have 8.3-9.5 L/min flow limits. Typical bathroom faucet is about 3.8-4.5 L/min. Typical kitchen sink faucet is 5.7-8.3 L/min. Typical modern toilet flush is 4.8-6.0 litres per flush.
Flushing the toilet three times per day, 20 seconds of handwashing each toilet use, a 10-minute shower and using the kitchen sink for a minute = ~126 L. Less, if you have more 'efficient' fixtures.
|
That’s what I thought when looking up the average residential water service rate. Thanks for reminding me fixtures have way lower rates than the service itself. Derp.

Repair work is now projected to be completed this weekend, about a week ahead of schedule. However water restrictions continue for 10 days after that for flushing and testing.

So aggravating that the Freedumbs!! crowd bitched about "mixed messaging" when the messaging was perfectly clear on what was required, as proven by this rain. If people (i.e. the Freedumbs) had just followed the very clear restrictions on outdoor use, there wouldn't have been any need to even talk about indoor savings as well. No mixed messaging.

Early? I am outraged that the first timeline, which also outraged me, has been revised. More incompetence from silly hall!

Fack, just had two pipeline leaks in the few days. This new job sucks ass!
That's why you cannot slam the people currently in charge because there are 40 previous people who put off spends and it lands on your lap and you have to take the punishment with a stoic face.

Yeah. Some city engineer decades ago saved on procurement and the boomers got lower property taxes at the time. He's retired on a full pension now and the rest of us are paying to re-do the job

That engineer was buying code compliant pipe so it wasn’t even a risky or controversial decision at the time. It was just the way you made that type of pipe. Lots of learnings like that in industry.

Sure, I mean I'd be willing to shift the blame around to whoever certified the pipe. And of course there's plenty of analogous situations, this sort of seems like the Poly-B of water mains to me...
