I have a .25 acre lot and can cut my lawn twice with my Ego mower. It's great. Does a good job, is quiet and my son now does it for allowance money. It's so much lighter than my old Honda.

I will probably buy an electric mower after my current one dies.
Only problem is I have a Honda HR214, must be 20 years old already, I leave it outside all winter and in the spring it fires up on one pull and hums like brand new.

It's the 10 year old single malt you have to put in the engine that is expensive

I moved to a push mower last year when my gas one broke. It does a crappy job, but honestly isn't any harder to use than the gas one, and I've been slowly trying to replace all of the grass with hardy perennials/bushes/tress that do well on 1-2 waterings weekly.

I go through at least 3 batteries when I mow a 0.26 acre lot, and can only mow if the grass is dry and the temperature is below 75 degrees. Th mower/batteries are Greenworks brand.

The Ryobi batteries come with a three year warranty. One of mine crapped out after a year and they replaced it, no questions asked.

Wouldn't the most time consuming thing be raking to the grass after you mow?

It's better for your lawn health if you mow 1x / week and leave the clipping to degrade. typically only takes about 2 days pretty much disappear.

I bought a cheap Canadian Tire Yardworks electric mower seven years ago and it is still going strong. It came with two batteries and I go through about 1.5 to mow my 0.4-acre lot. I could only think of one or two times that it didn't make it on the two batteries. I love how quiet it is. My only mistake was not buying a bigger one. I went for the 16", which takes some time to finish my lot.

I chose the push mower life and don't regret it. It's great not dealing with the noise and cords or gas cans. They're also lighter and easy to store. It does do kind of a crappy job, you can't get that flat, uniform look and they suck with tall grass, so it's weekly mows in the springtime here.

My parents had a push mower when I was growing up. It was hard work especially on a hot day but didn't actually take that long to do the front and back yard. For some reason my folks upgraded to a battery electric mower once my brother and I grew up and moved out though.

What would be the impact to emissions if somehow major countries agreed to ban motor sports like F1 and NASCAR?

It’d be interesting to know the carbon footprint of the entertainment industry. Somehow they always sneak by unscathed during these discussions, while delivering the least tangible benefit to society.

There are a few dozen F1 cars that run for a few hours every year. It's not going to be significant compared to 1 billion cars on the road that run a few hundred hours every year

I’d wager it’s more than a few hours per year. Don’t they practice?
I have kids and use my SUV to shuttle them around.
They aren’t using these super cars for errands. These guys are emitting carbon just going round and round a track and I doubt they are getting the 10-11 l/100km mileage I am.
If we’re gonna be serious about the discussion, how can we tell people like me that what I do is bad, but what Max or Lewis are doing is “negligible”.

I lived on an acreage growing up and while we had a riding mower, it still took a good 2 hours to cut the massive yards. I hated it. Course as soon as I move away my dad goes and buys an industrial golf course mower that can do it in like 30 minutes. I was a little upset with him for that
