Not surprising and with their very small window to possibly compete makes sense why they’d do it early in the season. If you believe you have a shot and Saleh wasn’t the guy you move on. Smart to not waste a season of your elderly QB

When I heard the 960 update on my work commute, and they said "Breaking news: the New York Jets...", I was sure they were going to announce Devante Adams had been traded there. Yeah seems a little early for a firing, agreed it hints to a mess behind the scenes.

Unless Belichick is the replacement I'm not clear on what existing coach on their roster is an upgrade? Certainly won't be Hackett although that's probably what Rodgers would want so he could run the entire team.

Saleh is a terrible coach.

But this is a surprising move. What upgrade do they have? Hackett is terrible. It's actually a really poor coaching staff.

Going all in on a 40 year old broken QB is in interesting.

lol. Not that Saleh was amazing or anything, but firing him and keeping Hackett is certainly a choice. Anything to appease the conspiracy theorist I guess.

Saleh sucked. Should have been let go in the offseason. Jets absolutely need to salvage this season as Rodgers is showing there is not much left there and time is running out.

If Eagles no show against the Browns Sirianni will be next. Both are bad coaches hired at the same time. Outside of Campbell the 2021 coaching hiring cycle was awful. Just Sirianni and Campbell left of the 7 hired that year.

The Jets would have been better off with Matt's brother as OC.

Rodgers likes him. That's literally all there is to it.

I don't even know if it's a "likes him" situation, more than likely Hackett lets Rodgers walk all over him and never challenges him.

Saleh looks like another good coordinator that's not head coach material. He will resurface as a DC next season I'm sure as his defenses were the only thing keeping the Jets competitive the past few seasons.
