Mike McCarthy living off Aaron Rodgers getting him a ring. One of the worst coaches of all time.

This was the annual seahawks game where they showed they're just not a sound football team. Might make wild card weekend, might not.
The blocked field goal was a clear missed penalty where a guy jumped the snapper while another D lineman held him down with both hands which is... not allowed. But the Seahawks got the benefit of what appeared to be a bad call on their 1st half touchdown so meh. Refball gonna refball.

It was legal because Simmons did not have a running start and did not use any of the defenders for leverage. He was also lined up in the gap between Stoll and Tomlinson, not directly over the long snapper, rules expert Gene Steratore explained on the CBS broadcast.
NFL officiating rules analyst Walt Anderson confirmed to a pool reporter through an NFL spokesperson that the Giants' blocked field goal was legal.
On Simmons jumping over the line, Anderson confirmed via the spokesperson that Steratore's explanation on the broadcast was correct, saying there was no foul because Simmons was on the line of scrimmage and did not use anyone as leverage.
On the matter of Nunez-Roches pushing down on Stoll, Anderson said via the spokesperson that "pushing down alone is not a foul and there was no forcible contact to the head and neck."

Officials missed the tackle being a too far off the line of scrimmage there. Still with the turn overs and blocked field goal, Dallas letting the Steelers stay in this too long.

Nobody cheats more on these last second extra points or field goals than the Steelers.

I haven't listened to Brady until today but I think he is great. Not as good as Romo but he got the way better game to call today.
This kinda sucks. I don't have a team to cheer for in the NFL but I did have a team to hate in the Seanucks. Now that Petey Carroll is gone I don't really hate the Seahawks anymore.. lol

Police announced Peppers' arrest Monday, saying they responded to a disturbance at a residential address early Saturday morning when a caller indicated there was an altercation between two people.
Police said Peppers, 29, will be charged with "assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation, and possession of a Class B substance believed to be cocaine."

As a whole the league is pretty mediocre after 5 weeks.
In the AFC the Chargers would hold the third WC spot right now with their 2-2 record. I hesitate to call the Bengals dead because the Broncos and Chargers currently hold playoff spots. If their defence can get to just being bad they could win 8 more games.
The NFC is a bit better as the NFC North could have every team with 9 or more wins. The Commanders are a surprise Division leader, and who knows which of NO, TB, ATL ends up winning the South. 49'ers struggling with the Superbowl hangover but their Division will let them off the hook as no one else looks like a playoff team.

Lots of teams are transitioning to young QB's which is playing a role in the mediocrity. The average number of starts for QB's opening up this season was 66.6 this season. From 2015 - 2022 the average number of starts for opening week QB's has largely been in the range of 80-90 starts. This is why passing yards are down from last decade. We knew this would happen with guys like Brady, Brees, Big Ben, Rivers, Ryan, Manning(s), etc all retiring in the past four years as that was kind of a golden era for NFL QB's.

There's three teams with top 12 picks from this last draft in Chicago, Denver, and Washington currently holding playoff position. You could add in the Falcons and Vikings too...although the rookie QB's from those teams have not played. But those are also teams transitioning to a new QB and be it a vet or rookie there's a transition period. So it's not just number of starts but overall continuity at the position.
Looking like it takes 3-4 weeks for teams to get in sync now with limitations on full pad practices and starters playing less in pre-season. Run funnel defense is also resulting in some really absurd running yards combined with some poor tackling. Hopefully we start seeing some better games now.

In a way I feel for Stefanski. He's going to lose his job. If he switched to Jameis...they'd probably start winning a lot where he might salvage it. But with the commitments to Deshaun I get the impression that he's not allowed.

Well he was the one along with the owners drooling over the abuser, ready to shell out the biggest contract in NFL history and send a massive trade package.
They deserve this, and hopefully it gets worse.
