So I actually emailed/reported it through the CBC Gem website and impressively they already responded. Not so impressive is the answer that it just doesn't work on a bunch of device types:

Unfortunately, the ability to rewind or fast-forward Olympic Replays is not available at this time on all Android TV devices (Google TV, Android TV Boxes, Nvidia Shield, etc.), Fire TV 6+ devices, and when casting to a supported Chromecast device.
Please know the ability to rewind and fast-forward Olympic Replays is still available on other Gem-supported devices and platforms:

But iPhone hasn't worked well either...the basketball game today crashed like a dozen times, or would reload the ads but not get to the game, etc.
How is this stuff getting worse at this point?

I was in/out on watching, but the vibe was like a ####ty alternate watch along stream. No, I do not need to hear Kevin Hart's thoughts on that last play.
Andi Petrillo was definitely refreshing compared to the haughtiness in years past from Grandpa Mansbridge, though.

Olympic Swimmers Fess Up to Dirty Secret: We All Pee in the Pool
Quote:
A Wall Street Journal investigation has uncovered what it calls “one of the dirtiest secrets of the Olympic Games: Everyone pees in the pool.”
That’s right. The world’s best swimmers, the elite of their sport, all pee in the pool. And they don’t mind admitting it.
“I’ve probably peed in every single pool I’ve swam in,” three-time U.S. Olympian and former gold medalist Lilly King, told the newspaper. “That’s just how it goes.”
|
Quote:
Swimmers insist that it’s not just a “lack of decorum” that makes them pee in the pool. “At important competitions, swimmers hydrate until the last possible moment while also wearing ultra-tight suits meant to compress their bodies into the most hydrodynamic shape possible. It makes for a dangerous combination,” the Journal explained.
And even though everybody’s at it, they try to follow one simple rule if they need a to pee in the pool: not to do it when someone’s right behind them. “You never want to swim through a warm patch,” said freestyler and four-time Olympic medalist Cullen Jones.

Really cool story and quite the achievement for Chile's Zeng Zhi Ying at the age of 58! So, for all of you who feel like your teenage dreams of competing in the Olympics are over, you never know!

I'm liking skateboarding in the Olympics way more than I liked the X games. The X games are a US centric circle jerk. This is way more balanced.

You can and always could. Back in the day however, both sides of the paddle could be the same colour (black) and then they changed the rule mandating that one side had to be black, while the other side had to be red. The other wrinkle here is that each side of the paddle will produce a different spin/exit off the paddle. So you can imagine, when both sides were the same colour, you could confuse your opponent as they would never be certain what to expect in your return, but once they made the rule change, you always know what kind of spin/exit is coming.

I dunno, I think this is a terrific story beyond the Olympic 'faster, higher, stronger' mantra. If Chile decides that she's Olympic-worthy, why not? If she's good, who cares what her age is?

US with bronze in men's 10k run. Canadian had a chance but ran out of gas in the home stretch. Uganda, Ethiopia 1-2.

Love seeing this kind of sportsmanship displayed by He Bingjiao to bring a Spanish flag badge with her to the podium after her opponent had to withdraw due to injury, automatically moving her onward.
"My opponent was injured during the semifinals, and i felt heartbroken for her. Marin is an outstanding athlete, and i had hoped to be able to play better in the finals with her fighting spirit. i hope she sees this, and i wish her a speedy recovery." - He Bingjiao.
