Shapo was down 4-1 in the opening set and then proceeds to win 12 of the next 13 games taking out Federico Coria in Geneva 7-5 6-0.
Edit: I forgot to add that Denis had no KT tape on his knee which obviously is a good sign.

The Prince of Clay, I'm going to try watch his semi final match against Djokovic again one of the best ever.

Is this still the qualification round? It's not on TV.
Edit: Oh, this is the Geneva tournament. Ok got it.

Yeah, I should have clarified that in my post - Shapo won the opening set in a tie-break and it's tied 3-3 in set 2 when they halted play. Denis played very well today, controlled aggressive tennis.

Back to French Open qualifying, Marina Stakusic battles back from a break down in set 3 and saving multiple match points to advance to the final round of qualifying winning her match 6-3 4-6 7-6(10-6 was the 3rd set tie-breaker score).

Nadal drawing the woman beater in the first round, surely they could have rigged him an easier start to the tournament? Gonna be a hell of an atmosphere if nothing else.

Darn it, Shapo loses a hard fought match to Griekspoor 6-7 7-6 6-3 in the resumption of their Geneva match from yesterday, I really wanted to see him play Novak, alas it wasn't meant to be.

Well that absolutely sucks, but upsets can happen. There last match at the French was an absolute war thay ended when Zverev broke his leg.

It could have been Alcaraz vs Nadal, it was 50/50.
More importantly, the winner of Zverev/Nadal gets Goffin

Diallo is currently up 5-2 in the third set and looking like he's on his way to the main draw by playing some fine, intelligent tennis. His game has grown immensely since his first time here at the Calgary Challenger.
It will be interesting to see where he can take things from here. He certainly has top 50 potential.

40 ATP points (I believe?) and nearly $75k to this point is going to go a long way for the youngster.
Hopefully he gets some luck and doesn't end up facing Alcaraz, Hurkacz or another high seed in R1....there's a couple of cushy slots that might give him a fighting chance to advance further.

He hasn't had a great 2024 and had been usurped by Galarneau in the rankings, but with this French Open qualification run, he should be right there with Alexis. Also, a chance for another Canadian at the French Open with Marina Stakusic playing her final qualification match on Friday.
