It's common to see questions like "How do I post an image?", "Where do I host my sig pic?" or "I have a huge picture, but I want to reduce it to post or use as my sig."
Images to be displayed on the Internet have to reside on a server connected to the Internet (meaning if it's on your computer, we can't see it).
Imgur seems like a good option for those that don't already own their own web space. Once you upload your images there they are visible to people on the Internet.
Once you've got your image uploaded, to post the image the first thing you need to know is the image's
URL. The URL is the full address of the image on the Internet and looks like:
http://forumcdn.calgarypuck.com/imag...lies/wink2.gif
On Imgur, the URL is given to you for each image when you view your album. If you can see an image and want to know it's URL, you can often right click on the image, click Properties and the URL will be given.
Once you know your image's URL, you can post it to the forum. To do this you have to type (or copy and paste) the URL into your post, and surround it with the image tags. So while typing your post it would look something like:
Code:
[img]http://i.imgur.com/QLBhjdq.gif[/img]
The forum software sees those image tags and replaces them with the actual image you want to post.
To resize images, I found a couple of free utilites that allow you to do it if you don't have any image editing software already installed on your computer.
