Lol, yeah you guys get what I'm driving at. I should've walked out when I flipped to the menu and at the top was "Toast". I just wanted some lunch with a few people, and now I'm looking at "Plates" which is a pile of unknowns. I didn't know what was a sharing plate and what was just a normal meal? Regardless, the food wasn't good anyway. Maybe some of the remaining menu is, and maybe the selection of beer is great, I couldn't say.
That location must be the cause. First a meatball only restaurant and now this.

Checked out free house. Had the mussels. Classic bacon and leek and was really good.
#### beer prices though. $7-$9 for a 16 oz is pathetic.
Probably won’t be back.

My wife just spent $14 for a mocktail at Hawthorn. I told her next time to make sure she orders booze. At $18 it is a relative steal.

I don’t see the issue with this type of menu from a communication standpoint.
It’s clearly a sharing restaurant where you order 2 or 3 things each and everyone has a taste of everything. Everything on that menu looks like it’s to be shared.
For example Fuzz’s brussel sprouts are a bowl of brussel sprouts with cheese, bacon and hazelnuts. It is not a full meal, it does not come with a burger.
Whether or not you get value for small share plates is another issue entirely.

I finally stopped in at Tibetan Kitchen, which was mentioned a page or two back. Yes, so good! I see it's google rating is sitting at a perfect 5.0 after 28 reviews, which seems like crazy consistency, especially for a new restaurant.
I'm a little concerned that at lunch time there were only a couple of us in the restaurant. I hope it's getting a lot more traffic in the evenings. If it sticks around I could see this being a once-a-month sort of restaurant for my family, which would be high frequency for us.

I just noticed that F45 is opening on Kensington Road. It's around the corner from Osteria in the white building which was long vacated (I can't recall what was there before!)
I know this isn't a fitness thread, but I've been going to F45 for months and it's been fantastic. If you're in the area and looking for something, I'd recommend it as a good option.

Tibet Kitchen was busy friday night. Food was good - especially the momos with hot sauce.
Chef came out and talked to us. He was born in India, and he was part of Tibet kitchen in Toronto.

Was there last night. Place was very busy.
The good: Happy Hour beer $4 / 16 oz. Candied Squash Dish (a bit burn-y but tasted good).
The not so good: Carrot Veggie dish, served in like a cup of vegetable oil.
The really bad: Chicken salad. A couple ounces of cold, salty, greasy and waxy strips of almost jerky like chicken, served on bitter greens, with tiny-tiny apple fragments, and greasy fried shallot; all with large clumps of dried cherries that that tasted like nibs candy (worst part is they didn't even bother to separate the cherry pieces to distribute them through the salad). It tasted really bizarre: salty, bitter, harsh, and fake fruity. Later when I got home... I realized that they forgot to add the walnut pieces and blue cheese.
Will give them one more chance after they have time to sort out their kitchen and quality issues. Would go back for happy hour beer, and might try something less ambitious from the kitchen, like wings.

While walking over to Tibet Kitchen for a family dinner last night we saw that Meraki Supply Co. has closed the doors on their 10th street shop. Their website indicates they'll be showing up somewhere else this year:

They were one of my go to places for gifts, bummed out that they are now not in the neighbourhood anymore.

I sort of wonder what they will build there?
With the way condo buildings are being built in the area it’s going to be inhabitable in a few years.

Still lots of rental being built right now, will that hold into the near future for a project at this site is the question I guess.
