Default The Best (and Worst) Fassbender Movies of 2013

Many critics have been releasing their lists of what they believed are the top movies of 2013, and unless 47 Ronin is really that bad I doubt my thoughts will change a lot.

Here is my top ten lists for the best and worst movies for the year.

The Best Movies of 2013
1. Prisoners
2. Rush
3. The Place Beyond the Pines
4. Mud
5. Gravity
6. American Hustle
7. Captain Phillips
8. Thor: Dark World
9. 12 Years a Slave
10. The Wolf of Wall Street
HM. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Conjuring, Star Trek Into Darkness, You're Next
Most Surprising: Rush, Thor: Dark World, and World War Z which I had very low expectations for going in.

The Worst Movies of 2013
1. Runner Runner
2. A Good Day to Die Hard
3. The Last Exorcism Part II
4. Kick-Ass 2
5. The Hangover Part III
6. Insidious 2
7. White House Down
8. RED 2
9. The Call
10. Machete Kills
HM We're the Millers, Oldboy, Colony
Most Disappointing: The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug and Iron Man III

Not a good year at all for sequels, especially when they are numbered instead of titled. Just so much repetition in some of these movies, you can tell they barely tried in making them.

Subjective, but I thought place beyond the pines was terrible. Besides an engaging 1st act, the movie did nothing for me.

a good day to die hard was almost as stupid as xXx. I couldn't believe it when the bad guys started dying. There was quite literally no plot, no character development, and the action sucked. I could forgive the 1st 2 but if the action is stupid and pointless, why not just go on youtube and watch explosions for 2 hours?

Huh....Dunno about that worst list. I laughed pretty hard at Red 2 as well as We're the Millers. No, they weren't the best movies of the year by any means, but I enjoyed them just the same. Not the worst IMO. Not even close.

I guess my favourite movies this year were:

1 and 2 were mind blowing documentaries. I've really tried to stop consuming bad movies, but I found that I got ripped on a few.

1. Exit through the gift shop
2. Fog of War
3. Prisoners
4. The impossible
5. End of watch

HM: Pacific Rim (reminded me of ghostbusters), Django was funny (wasn't it last year)

The bad:
Cloud Atlas
The Wolverine (son made me watch this)
Identity theft (melissa mccarthy or whatever)

I liked the first RED, but the second one seemed like the actors just phoned in their performances to collect their paycheque. I didn't laugh at all, and was pretty much asleep half way through the movie. Not like my expectations were all that high to begin with, but neither were they for most of the movies on my worst list. Just jumping around from country to country as they probably filmed it while Willis was on vacation in those countries filming other terrible movies.

As for We're the Millers, it was kinda funny for the first 10 minutes, but I don't think I laughed a single time once they crossed the boarder. Just the same old tired jokes so many comedies use these days; pot jokes, penis jokes, sex jokes, and some toilet humor thrown in for good measure. Then add on top a set of despicable stereotype characters and you know your in for a terrible movie. In fact you could pretty much use the same review for Hangover III. To be honest there hasn't been a true sitcom I've liked in years though, so they aren't my type of movies to begin with.

Don't know about best or worst but the most disappointing for me was the Desolation of Smaug.

I really really really wanted to like it.

I really really really didn't.

I can't even point to something that's bad. The whole movie was just "meh" for me.

Not nearly enough time in Mirkwood or with Beorn and far too much time with superfluous characters and unnecessary plot points.

Also, Fog of War is from 2003 and Exit Through the Gift Shop is from 2010.

Yeah subjective for sure as Prisoners while good probably doesn't make my personal top 10 but I thought 2013 was a pretty strong year for good movies overall.

Some of those "worst" movies I never saw (We're the Millers was IMO a pretty funny/crude comedy and not something I would put in my worst in this day and age where most comedies are flat out terrible) because I simply don't have time for movies I know that are bad although Pacific Rim probably makes the list as I had higher hopes for what was a pretty awful movie.

I know I'll probably get made fun of but Fast and Furious 6 was great. Probably my favorite ongoing movie series. Always exciting, great stunts and just an all around awesome summer popcorn movie.
The World's End was terrible. It started out okay but soon turn into a steaming pile. Very disappointed with it.

Since comedies usually get snubbed on "Best of" movie lists, I feel the need to put a vote in for This Is The End. Funniest movie I've seen in theatres since 40 Year Old Virgin

Best for me:
Mud
Anchorman 2
Europa Report
This is the End

Worst:
This list begins and ends with Grown Ups 2
Possibly the worst movie I've ever seen on so many levels

After the first Grown Ups, I am shocked anyone would voluntarily watch the second one.

Watched "Prisoners" last night based on this thread. It was an incredible flick, thanks for recommending it.

I would actually agree that Fast 6 was a very good movie. Almost as fun as the last one, so it would become the second best in the series.I was really looking forward to see what they were going to do with Statham joining the cast.Of course with Walker's death it puts the whole thing in turmoil, and it might be a depressing movie to watch. I doubt many would make fun of you, even with the countless insanely stupid moments in the movie.

As for The World's End, I have pretty much the same opinion, although I thought it was just okay. The first 30 minutes were pretty great, but once they started battling the "invaders" the movie lost me. There were still many great moments, and Pegg was pretty awesome, but still not quite the calibre of Shaun of the Dead or Even Hot Fuzz. I also loathed the last 20 minutes of the movie, and just wanted the movie to end. To its credit I did actually like the design of the invaders, but just didn't give a crap about their plan, and how they were used.

Put me on the list that thought Gravity was an over hyped, horrible film.

I was forced to watch it. It's 10x worse than the first one - imagine that.

I'm in the anti-gravity camp as well. Not a "worst of the year" candidate but it did nothing for me.
