Default Lucic hit - any chance of further discipline?

Not a great hit. The blood didn't help. But do you think it's something that will lead to further discipline?

I missed it live, came back to see the major, and went and found a highlight. Surprised it was a major. I didn't see that much contact and didn't think Lucic tried to kill the guy. But.... Looch coulda not done it, and that's kinda the point.

Suspension? Nah.

Calgary Flames... so yes. I will be surprised if there isn't supplemental discipline. It's practically a given.

No. There shouldn’t be either. The only reason that switched to a 5 minute major is because Demelo was bleeding.

I said it in the GT but does it really matter either way,? He could probably use a few games to rest.

I don't think he gets suspended though as Jets player put him self in a bad spot but if he does oh well it's a long year and few games rest wouldn't hurt.

Probably gets a game or two, even though I disagree

Svechnikov should get a game too imo, similar to Coleman's suspension in the pre-season

No suspension, if Demelo stayed out , then Yes. But he kept playing and no hearing required.

Schvechnikov"s hit was the more dangerous play by far. Only a minor there though.

The hit on Kylington was worse, Lucic is just bigger and the player turned at the last minute. It should have been 2 for boarding.

I’d be pretty surprised if he doesn’t get a game or two just due to optics with all the blood. A lot of sports fans nowadays are just as blood-thirsty as the peak of the Roman Empire, so certain elements of the media will be all too happy to milk the blood and feed it to all the blood-thirsty fans. All for clicks and views. This gets seen by even the most casual hockey fan that barely follows and beyond. It’s dumb.

It shouldn't be anything, A 5 minute was plenty, but I'm gonna say the league gives him a game. Also LOL at the 2 Jets players that came up to Lucic after the hit.

I was at the game; the Lucic hit sounded like a car crash, but the hit from behind on Kylington was a more dangerous play, he almost went face first into the top of the boards and it wasn’t one of those “he turned right before the hit” plays. The penalty assessed to Lucic made the minor on Svechnikov look like an insufficient punishment.

The hit on Kylington was way worse - only reason that wasn't 5 and game was because Kylington got up too fast. All he needed to do was stay down on the ice for 5 more seconds. Flames scored 10 seconds into the plowerplay. Imagine if they had 5 minutes to work with.

I just don't get why something as arbitrary as "was he hurt?" sways the decision.

It's not like a doctor comes out and assesses him and sends word to Toronto.

In this case the head hit the dasher, if it doesn't there's no blood and he doesn't go off for repairs.

Should look deeper into how malicious the intent was.

I'm with you.

It should make not one iota of difference if someone is hurt or not when deciding the call on the ice.

If it was a penalty, call it...if it wasn't then don't....simple.

Doesnt matter whether or not someone is leaking or limping.

Its all about the intent, not the result.

But that would fall under common sense, and that is far much to ask in this day and age.
