Watched FP2 this morning. Track looks generic, doesn't sound like there are a load of overtaking spots. Drivers like it, describing it as flowy. I'm just not sure it'll make for the greatest racing.
Just finished quali.
What a boring inspired track. Generic as you said.
Why can't they try to build something like Sao Paulo for a change.

I think I have this right.
Max hit with 5 spot grid penalty, Bottas with 3
Hamilton drives alone. Gasly will join him on front row. I guess
RB starts 7th and 11th on grid. The Netflix curse is real?
My kid threw $20 on this race, on pretty much rest of field at 51 to 1 against RB, Mercedes, leclerc and Norris. 51 to 1 the winner will not be British, Dutch, Mexican, Finnish or Leclerc.
Not sure this makes winning the bet more or less likely.

This is the worst possible end to this season I could possibly imagine. The appearance of being close, might even be tied on points going into the final race. But if Lewis wins by 10+ seconds, it’s not much of a thrill.
I didn't think the track was too bad. There was a lot more overtaking than I anticipated. Plus the aggressive secondary curves made for some interesting bits near the end.

DoubleK grows his lead over BTimbit by 5 points in the overall race. TimSJ got a bit closer to Btimbit as well as he holds down 3rd.
This weeks winner was KelVarnsen with a solid 24pts, 4 correct slots and 7/10. Jepworth was second with 21pts and 3 slot 8/10.
The track was definitely better than expected. At least there was some passing into T1. I am very surprised that we saw as many blowouts as we did. I kept hearing how low grip the track was. Combine that with apparently the highest energy being put into the tires (high speed corners) and I thought we'd see cars skidding off or spinning before the Pirelli's went pop.
Saudi is next. Still can't believe F1 is going there..

What was the reason why Mercedes didn't use the new engine in Qatar?
Quote:
'Of the remaining circuits, Qatar has got the shortest amount of straight line, the shortest amount of full-throttle running and it's got an awful lot of cornering. So the power advantage you get from that engine in Qatar is much smaller than if you run it at the two remaining circuits.''
''All we are doing is trying to really balance the mileage across the pool, but make sure that when we use the less powerful engine, there is less of a penalty for it and it also means that when we get to the final two tracks, we are going to have the most power that we possibly can,'' Shovlin concludes.
Sure hope RB/Honda can pull something out of their hat. I'm not sure I can sit through another Hamilton WDC. Don't get me wrong; Hamilton is incredible and probably the goat for F1, but enough already.
I think this is a given. Taking that much sidewall away is really going to affect how the cars drive. I doubt the drivers will be able to take as much kerb as they currently are else they risk really upsetting the car and losing laptime.
