And they shouldn't.
There is literally no good reason for Springer, Bo Bichette and Kirk to be this ####ty at hitting this season.
It's unbelievable.

To be honest I never figure how Kirk is included here. I do understand baseball is not like other sports, but it is always my expectation that players who are not fit are prone to deteriorating much sooner in their career. There are anomalies in every sport but I'd guess a lack of commitment is some areas often means a same lack of commitment in other areas too. He's certainly not old at 25 but I don't find his decline the last couple years in any way as unexpected. I'd be happy to have this all wrong and see him continue to hit as he has the last few weeks, and he may well do that.

I bet you Atkins didn't expect it.

Kirk always felt a bit like the "Good story but sell high after a great season" type of move in 2022.
But at the same time he was 23 years old, an all-star, and was a fan favourite that season. And as much as Moreno was the prospect of the future...he's actually only 18 months younger than Kirk, so the age gap wasn't a crazy difference.
But of course now Kirk went from being 4.0 WAR that season to a combined 2.3 WAR after the last season and a half (Moreno Being 5.9 WAR in that same time period).

Not as plugged in these past days but with the KK talk Dan and Joe are having now sounds like Atkins and the front office has loused this up things with the player, how he was informed, etc etc. Other guys in the club house must be shaking their head too.
No surprise.
Schendier keeps playing him too.

Like the season, the Blue Jays giveaways look to be getting worse and worse.
Super generic Caribbean hats that Dollarama would think long and hard about carrying, and some silk screened raglan style tshirts that no one wears anymore, with Harry Potter on it.

Games like this are what annoy me more than anything. Ryne Nelson is not a good pitcher. Yet he's gonna pitch a 2 hit shutout tonight. Why are the Jays so bad that a pitcher with a 5.5ERA makes the Jays look like a little league team.

The sac fly was cool. But scoring 1 with the bases loaded and nobody out is still not a huge success

Trevor Richards should not pitch again if life was fair.

Jays would be staring down a big win streak if it weren't for Richards.

The Jays never learn that abusing Richards and his “rubber arm” leads to him breaking down…it seems to happen every season.

And yet it still comes down to the bats. Bases loaded and nobody out. Vlad hits the sac fly. And then instantly you knew Turner would GIDP. A different outcome there and those runs don't matter as much.
