We already had one 10 years ago at the YYC airport! It's odd that it didn't establish a footprint for more and nobody seems to remember it.

It showed up right around the time Chick-fil-a owners came out as awful bigots, and there was a bunch of controversy around it. I think that hurt their expansion at the time, but it seems maybe people have forgotten not to give money to horrible people, even if the chicken is extra crispy?

Shake Shack is coming to Toronto so maybe there will be a wider Canadian expansion if that goes well.

The more it happens the less I understand the Canadian obsession with above average American fast food chains.

Yeah, I've eaten chick fil a a few times down in the states.

It's fine, It's fast food chicken.
That being said, there isn't any fast food that is good enough for me to support a company that's run by people who are actively trying to roll back basic human rights.

As a frequent customer who loves giving money to horrible people, my guess is it died because of two things:

2) It was located by the check-in counters, not in the post-security part of the terminal. Most travellers want to have a meal after check-in, not while they still have all their luggage and the ticketing stress to deal with.

1) Shortly after it opened, the airport eliminated the 30-minute free parking, which killed the drop-in customers. I remember popping in a few times because of that, and then afterwards it just wasn't worth it with the parking fees. I'm sure I wasn't alone.

I look forward to a non-airport location!

I hope Hobby Lobby comes here next so I can see some stolen artifacts from Mesopotamia.

All I want is In-And-Out Burger and not all these Bible-thumper companies but they refuse to even expand much in the USA.

There is a movement in the U.S. to force Chick-fil-as along interstate highways to open Sundays. They operate on federal land and liberals want those restaurants to have to feed hungry travelers.

Huh? In-And-Out owner is known as a Christian and why they print Bible verses on their wrappers and cups.

I was so annoyed once: I had a layover in Calgary and thought I'd have me some Chick Fil-A so I left security and of course it was closed so I had to go back through security then had no time to eat.

Also, hilarious -- Chick Fil-A has a concession stand at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta except it's closed on Sundays:

https://www.mercedesbenzstadium.com/menus/chick-fil-a

So this season it was closed for eight out of eight home games.

And one of their biggest selling points is that it’s cheap. They won’t be able to use the same suppliers up here so it’ll either be really expensive or crappy quality.

It's religiously motivated, so not making any sense is kind of what it does best.

And the Falcons are horrible. Them not having a primetime game is a good thing.

I walked into a Hobby Lobby and couldn’t find anything that distinguished itself from your standard Michaels (aside from kitschy religious stuff). In fact I thought it might just be a US/Canadian naming thing because Harbour Freight also seemed nearly identical to Princess Auto.

Shake Shack is pretty good though. Probably won’t translated well in Canada where burgers will all end up being cooked well-done.

One thing I’d like to know about US fast food is, what’s with the bread on the side? Saw an ad for DQ and they show their chicken tenders with a piece of bread on the side.

Also, maybe a hot take but the chicken tenders at Joey’s Only is really similar to Raising Canes. They deep fry them in the same batter at the fish, and it’s really good.
