Honestly, not sure I love the deal. Suter looks like he still has it at 37. He is on a great contract at 4.4M for 2 years. Should rerate well. 2024 2nd is a piece for the future. We could have kept it and draft but we liked Suters Contract more

Its the only way he can sign his free agents.

Nazem Kadri
John Tavares
Calvin De Haan
Laurent Brossoit
Jack Campbell
Justin Dowling
Carter Hutton
Calvin Pickard

He also has some prominent RFA's to sign.

He loves his Leafs, but the reality is that he should have sold a few of them off. If he had sold Kadri and Tavares down the stretch he would have more than enough room to sign everyone and recoup some assets in the process.

Everyone plays the game differently though.
