One thing to consider is the three hour running time. That means fewer showings in a day, which should stretch out the boxoffice takes.

Looks like China is the one market where The Batman will do poorly. Sales have been comparable to the latest Matrix film there, so will probably pull in less than $20 mill there. For comparison, Aquaman did almost $300 million in China.

If anything, that bodes well for Batman.
Because if Aquaman did $300M in China then one must surmise that they have atrocious taste in film because that movie sucked out loud. Oh! And long. It sucked for a long, long time.
It was a long film. That was bad.

Has it been released there yet? I thought I read something the other day that the Chinese release for Batman wasn’t until the 18th.

The Matrix Regurgitations has ended its domestic run with a total gross of $37.7M. That’s bad.

Sorry today was the first day of presales for The Batman in China and the tickets sold were almost identical to the new Matrix.
All WB had terrible box office in 2021 because of the same day availability in HBO Max. The Suicide Squad was awesome but did terrible at the box office.

Godzilla actually did pretty well and was right in the middle of bad pandemic times.
Suicide Squad was not a broad appeal movie.

We tried to watch that the other day and turned it off after about 20mins. What a tire fire. I’ll usually tough it out, but when my wife asked if we really had to keep watching I was happy to shut it down.

Well...it was a terrible film.
They really should have left that franchise well enough alone.
I'm actually surprised it did so poorly, I'd have thought a story that thought it was smarter than everyone and everything else would have appealed to society's current ethos.

66 million second weekend is solid for the Batman. The crazy thing is the proportion of the box office it's taking. I also had no idea that Chanum Tatting was staring in a buddy cop film opposite a dog. That sounds awful.

Heading for just over 800 million total. The Dom/Int split is still weird to me even accounting for Russia and China. If it did it’s normal DC 40/60 it would be a Billion dollar movie.

A good comparison for The Batman is the first Wonder Woman movie. That did $412 in North America and about the same internationally for a total of $818.

The total profitability of Batman goes down when you analyze it by:
"Revenue Per Runtime Minute."

Only 12-15 opening in China so looks like 25-30 from there. That makes 800 million a little tighter.
This weekends holds will determine if it hits 400 million dom.

One thing to consider is that China has a bad Covid outbreak right now and lots of theatres are closed.
In North America The Batman is poised for a 40% drop and should bring in a great $40 mill in its third weekend.

Another CBM drops this weekend in Morbius, not sure what to expect Box office wise for this one. I'm thinking the success of Spider man will boost it, I'm predicting a $80 mill opening weekend. For a total around $175 mill in North America at the end of its run.

Early estimates were saying $50 million. Sony is now estimating $33 million. Which would still making it the 3rd highest debut of the year.

Morbius is definitely a wait for Netflix movie for me. Word of mouth is pretty awful so far. Budget is relatively low at $75 million. The Spiderman films are great and even Venom is okay. Not sure I'm really hyped for a whole Spiderman universe though...especially, as the actual Spiderman is in the MCU.

Morbius looks terrible. Sony sucks and they gonna bleed that Spidey universe dry.
