Because. The cap and roster is a mess and I'd rather lose him for nothing and have the space. If he makes it to the farm, he'll go on the block.

Add to that, the CPHL roster is over the cap limit and the Jets need t room to clear IR when players get healthy.

Further more. It's the price I have to pay when I flub cutting Blum instead of waiving resulting in massive cap penalties. Same with Mueller and a couple others.

Why not offer him for a pick? Someone may have stepped up and given you a 3rd. Some teams have cap.
Or put Jake McCabe in the minors which puts you 10K away from being fine with the cap. Make a deal for that 10K.
