Hello CP'ers,

Does anyone know how the Flames acquired Justin Dowling? I noticed he was on the Flames website as a prospect and I can't seem to figure out how he was acquired?

that has to be a mistake. The Stars signed him to a 2 year deal just recently:

Does not show up in the Dallas Star prospect list either

Maybe there is a deal done, but not yet reported? Pending completion of Stars playoffs?

He was with the Flames farm system up until 2012 on an ATO...he is not any longer. Cant see why we would waste a pick or prospect on a player we had for a few years then let go?

Best I can tell he signed an AHL deal with the Stars, so he's not a Dallas Prospect.

^^ he is. As per the link I posted in #2, he signed a NHL deal with Dallas in March. Also:

As for the Dallas prospect page ... there are guys on there who are over 30 (Morin, Petersen etc), so who knows how much time they have put into that list btw his 2 year contract only starts in 2014-15 ... maybe that's why he isn't on the prospect list on the Dallas page yet?!

anyway, good for him. Did well in his first Abbotsford stint, but didn't think he'd earn an NHL deal at some point.

I couldn't find any reason how he was on the flames prospects list and figured it must've been a mistake.

It's just a mistake. Even though it'd be awesome to have him back, especially with the way he turned out.

We were asking this ourselves as we prepped for this week's Fireside Chat episode, profiling the Flames young centremen. Glad to hear it's a mistake because as far as we could tell, he had never signed a Flames deal.
