Flames Flames Run Proven Unsustainable

Blood is boiling right now. Really not looking forward to the next two weeks of "I told you so!, I told you so!"

Finally, Getzlaf and Perry again, and by the time Perry was getting off Anaheim’s seventh overtime shot on goal in just 2:26 — against zero shots for Calgary — it became clear that the naysayers have been right all along.

The Calgary Flames truly could not sustain this.
While I would say that the tone of the article is much better than these quotes would allude, I've received about a dozen texts today from buddies who are Oilers/Canucks fans on how the team finally regressed. Driving me mad.

Yeah....the Flames "regressed" all over the Canucks and Oilers faces.

Actually the naysayers were wrong the entire time. And I was one of them for a lot of the season

They didn't win the cup. Unsustainable!

The article is actually fine. Kind of a dumb title though

The Flames were unsustainable all the way to the second round? They sustained their unsustainablility throughout the entire season, sustainably.

I bet there are a lot of teams out there that wished they could be unsustainable like the flames.

That unsustainable garbly poop had a case if the flames missed the playoffs. Not only did they make the playoffs, they won a round. End of story.

we basically have to win the cup to prove the naysayers wrong. I love how the naysayers love to pick and choose their arguments considering this is just year 2 of our rebuild

The title is classic clickbait sensationalism.
The article actually pays tribute to a fighting season, where they came unstuck against a better team. Not even the most die-hard, one-eyed fan among us would say that Anaheim is not a better team right now.

And unsustainably lost 3, "1-goal" games in round 2..... or is it sustainably.....

I'd say anyone willing to pull the sustainable argument should wait till a more fitting time. Losing to the top seed in the west and making the last few games very close doesn't prove anything except we're a competitive team.

Mark Spector actually became very readable during the flames playoff run and the race to get there.

hahahaha

I said it as a joke in the PGT last night, but the fact that someone is actually putting out an article saying this proves the "unsustainable" correct, after losing in the second round to the best team in the West ... wow.

We just bumped into a team that plays a similar system but better
