In his post game press conference Ward said that he expects Roy and Kanzig to join the team in Abbotsford shortly. He's unsure about Poirier, he hasn't gotten any confirmation yet, but he could be Abbotsford bound.
None of the players will join the Heat on their upcoming roadtrip to finish the season, at least initially, but will stay behind to work out with Domenic Pittis (Strength and Development Coach with the Flames) and Mike Thompson.

Crazy to think how many guys on ELC's and actual NHL contracts we could have with the Heat next season, of course depending on how many RFA's get qualified, and how many guys make the jump to the NHL.
**** Keep in mind, the players listed below DO NOT include the 17 NHL REGULARS that the Flames have either under contract next season, or that are RFA's very likely to be qualified****
1. Sven Baertschi
2. Markus Granlund
3. Max Reinhart
4. Michael Ferland
5. Corban Knight
6. Josh Jooris
7. Johnny Gaudreau
8. Bill Arnold
9. Kenny Agostino
10. Turner Elson
11. Bryce Van Brabant
12. Emile Poirier
13. Ben Hanowski (RFA)
- Possibly David Wolf as well, and maybe an outside shot at Kevin Hayes? Also, Coda Gordon is vying for a contract right now
- Obviously a couple guys are going to push for NHL jobs, crazy but every forward up on that list has played NHL games except Elson, Jooris and Poirier (Ferland too, but only because he got injured)
1. Tyler Wotherspoon
2. Patrick Sieloff
3. Brett Kulak
4. Ryan Culkin
5. Eric Roy
6. John Ramage
7. Chad Billins (RFA)
8. Mark Cundari (RFA)
- Plus Shane O'Brien is under contract, but I bet they find him a new home somehow, even if they have to buy him out.
1. Joni Ortio (RFA)
2. Olivier Roy (RFA)
Say what you want about Feaster/Weisbrod, but man did they ever collect a lot of young assets......legitimate prospects, if you will......before they were let go.
Not going to be very much room for AHL regulars like Locke, Olson, Bancks, Arsene, Lafranchise.......or even for key UFA's like Street and Jones to return.
Seriously going to be a ton of internal competition for jobs.....even if every body is towing the line, some guys are going to get shafted for ice time. It's almost like we need another AHL affiliate so these guys can all get proper minutes to develop.
Training camp is going to be insane in the fall......guys better come ready to go.

Above is my best guess, I hope Street is back for another year, so three forward spots left to fight for (Elson might get one of them)
On D I would probably let Billins go as well but I would have no problem keeping him (Kulak/Roy will be there to run the PP). So there is probably 1-2 openings available on D.
Really exciting, I hope they have a good run in the playoffs this year.

Randy Sportak @SUNRandySportak
#Flames assign Billins, Breen and Cundari to minor league teams. Billins and Breen to Abbotsford. Cundari to Chicago Wolves.

I believe so. Wotherspoon is out and Arnold/Gaudreau/Monahan can't get assigned since they were not on an AHL team at the trade deadline. Well, that and CHL issues would interfere with Monahan.

Only person I see missing who would be eligible is Granlund. However he's injured and on IR so he would be collecting NHL pay until he's healthy and able to be reassigned/activated from IR.

Wotherspoon has been ruled out until next season. Season ending surgery. Same story as Granlund, won't be sent down to the Heat, actually on Flames payroll on IR. Until he is off IR he is technically a Flame.
Same with Ferland. His injury was season ending.
Sieloff probably won't come back this late and far as I know has not yet practiced with the team. He's probably next season as well.
No idea on Gillies. Not a lot of word on him. I doubt he draws in though. SOB seems to be the enforcer now.
