Hitch doesn't coach the goalies and Elliott was a world beater that spring.

Playing for the tie has worked twice thus far. Lets see how things play out against fiercer competition.

I think that this may be a good move for them and may get them into the playoffs in the absolutely dreadful Pacific.
well, he had two positives; he lives in edmonton and he was one of the only coaches willing to take on the job without any contract beyond this season.

So, really, Chia is the head on the line for the season and the interim coach deal allows for a new GM to hand pick his own coach if/when Chia is let go...

Outside mcdavid, the Oilers are tire fire... so anyone choosing to take that job probably doesn't have other upcoming prospects...

i like hitch, but just don't see his system working with that roster

Hitch took the job because he missed being around hockey people not to get anything out of Edmonton’s roster. He said so on PTS last week.

Agreed. If the California teams were playing better, there's no doubt in my mind that the Oilers would miss. Unfortunately the Pacific is a dumpster fire this year other than San Jose, Calgary, and maybe Vegas if they can go on a run. With Hitch, I think the Oilers actually have a shot at grabbing one of the wildcard spots.

The good news is they'll be toast in the 1st round, likely in 5 games or less.

If the barrier remains 95 points to make it, and its likely because the Wildcard will probably be taken by Central teams, and the three Pacific teams are all on a 95 + pace, the Oilers will have to play well over .600 over the rest of the year.

Not bloody likely, they don't have the lineup to support that.

They're done unless they go on a major streak, and they don't look like that kind of team.

The Oilers only real chance for the playoffs would be if they get into the third spot in the Pacific. The wildcard spots will likely both go to Central teams, the Flames and San Jose should be in the first two spots, barring any major injuries. The other teams will have to battle it out to see who doesn't suck as much as the other teams.

I love that the Stamps are hoisting the Grey Cup in Edmonton right now.

If you’re bored there is another Flame war waging on HF Oilers. They really are the most dysfunctional and dumbest fans in the league. Just morons screaming at morons.

Welcome to the Oilers Wideman. He'll fit right in. Kopitar just walked him.

Dylan Strome should still thank his lucky lottery balls that the lottery went where it did on in 2015.

He seems likely very high on an Oilers amateur scouting list.

...especially considering that we have now won the Grey Cup 3 times since any major league team from the self-appointed “City of Champions” last won a championship.

Seriously Chiasson can go back to being a plug anytime now. Sick of seeing this guy continue to score. Don’t know why it bugs me so much, but can’t stand Chiasson.

All he’s doing is assuring they don’t get a top 10 pick.

Are they ruining Puljujarvj or he is just not any good? Surprised me when Kekalainen passed on him. He seemed to be the consensus number two or three pick. That was a huge red flag for me. Probably the reason why Tkachuk is a Calgary Flame too
