I wish more people knew about what a goddam amazing musician Lyle Lovett is. Most people only know him as "that guy that married Julia Roberts for a while", or "that guy with the crazy hair and ugly face".
Oh my friends, he's so much more than that. How many country artists do YOU know that include a cello solo in one of their big hits?
Such a beautiful artist. He needs more attention.

The missus and I were Lyle Lovett stalkers for quite a while.
Most memorable concert was at Carnegie Hall in New York, Lyle Lovett and the Large Band with a guest appearance by the Harlem Gospel Choir helping with “Church.”
Saw him and the Large Band twice - separate years - at the incredible, ancient, Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas. The theater alone was worth the trip.
And in Vegas and a bunch in Calgary.

I'm sure that "Church" with that choir would have been amazing.
My favorite album is he and the Large Band playing Live in San Antonio. I think it's just called "Live In Texas". I would have to assume it was that same theater they were playing on the album.

I'm sure there are probably a few U2 haters in here, but I ain't one of them. This song is just flat out fantastic. Love the way the Edge's guitar comes in around the 3:27 mark, and then builds into the kind of majestic musical climax that only these guys can deliver. Pure ear candy. They've still got it.
