Watched Fischer live for Spokane in Everett...was right down near the ice and Fischer can sure chirp. Got himself a little out of his game with it, but he definitely has some swagger to him. But took some dumb penalties.

Interesting note about Gadawin's contract. It actually starts this year according to cap friendly and as a 20 year old there is no sliding the contract to next year.

In effect he was able to burn a year of his ELC.

Anyone know why the Blue didn't sign Gawdin? His numbers were decent after his draft year and he's only 20. Seems like he could be a useful player down the line. Will be interesting if he can make Stockton next year

It happens. Blues didn't see the NHL upside and "soured" on him and felt they had better prospects in the system to give time and money to.

Blues also gave him a tryout in April with their AHL affiliate but cut him loose after 3 days. Must have felt they had a handle on what he could offer.

During the summer of 2014 he was actually a good prospect projected to go high in the 2015 draft (1st or 2nd rounder). 2012 5th overall pick in the WHL bantam draft. Even played for Canada at the U18s. But there were/are questions if his offense will translate in the pros and he fell in the rankings.

Interesting, hopefully it's a case of him being a late bloomer and a team that soured on him too quickly.

WHL for Dec.16th:

Gawdin was third star as Broncos beat Blazers 3-1, 1 goal and team high 7 shots-once again, no Heponiemi or Steenbergen (both players are at the WJC). 68pts in 34g.

Phillips with a goal and an assist, 5 shots, 2nd star as the Royals lose to the Giants 6-2.
53pts in 36g, good for 7th in the league.

No points for Fischer in a Spokane victory over Portland.

wasn't B. Burke at our camp ?

Man is Phillips ever a beast in the WHL ~ great to see. He still has a long road and missing out on the WJC hurts but I am still very high on this prospect; I think his ceiling could be a JG type boom but from the 6th round. Honestly too I can only see him making the league in a TOP 6 type role but he has demonstrated willingness to play in the hard areas and earn his goals and he's no slouch to hacking back if he needs to as well. Interesting prospect no doubt!

Yes Burke came to the Flames camp in 2016.

He had some off ice issues apparently and was subsequently traded to Moose Jaw early on in the 2016/17 WHL season.

At he Kelowna Victoria game tonight. Phillips is an interesting guy. Great assist and heads up goal tonight. But very unimpressive 5 on 5 to my eye.

D’Artagnan Joly scored twice tonight and had an assist. With a name like that I hope he becomes an NHL’er with the Flames.

Wes Gilbertson @WesGilbertson
#Flames prospect Juuso Vailimaki was playing through injury at the world juniors. Was in Calgary this week to be examined, not major but likely off a couple of weeks.

The Sarnia Sting have acquired center Jonathan Ang.

Will be interesting to see what the do with him. If they keep him at center, they will have 3 Cs in the top 40 for OHL scoring (Rymsha 13th, Ang 30th, Ruzicka 34th) or if they decide to move him or another to wing.

If they do move Ang to the wing, likely will play on Ruzicka's RW as a right handed shot.

They also acquired D Cam Dineen who is 8th in d scoring.

Going for it while they have arguably the best player in the OHL, Kyrou.

Swift Current putting all their chips in.

Acquired G Stuart Skinner (EDM 2017 3rd), C Giorgio Estephan (BUF 2015 6th), and RW Tanner Nagel from Lethbridge today. Also acquired C Andrew Fyetn today from the Hitmen.

Acquired D Josh Anderson (COL 2016 3rd) 2 days ago.

This is in addition to already trading for Matteo Gennaro and Beck Malensty back in November.

Gawdin's team trying to go far in the playoffs.
