Actual damage? Frolik 1.97 GA/60 and Sam Bennett 2.23 GA/60, which amounts to two goals over the course of an 82 games schedule of playing with the pair.
|
Is that not 20 goals over the course of a full season?

They don't play 60 minutes per game though, so I think this takes ice time into account.

Its been a long time since we have seen a Goalie win games for us on a regular basis. We can hold our nose at the fancy stats, but it sure is nice again to be able to count on the G, and more than that actually feel like he will make the save. Works wonders on the collective sports ulcer. That said we are going to get our collective asses handed to us very soon. Likely when Smith gets his next chance.

Feels like the Flames have been on the wrong end of the fancy stats a fair bit of late. Am I wrong?

Not too much no. I think fancy stats show since the break that Winnipeg, San Jose, Philly and Colorado were games they got outplayed in. You can chalk up San Jose to score effects, but the others are legit. And while they outplayed opponents in the other games, it doesn’t feel as wide a margin in the positive as the negatives were. Aka a bunch of slightly outplaying teams.

Not to nitpick but if they play 15 minutes a game it's more like a 5 goal difference over the season. Still not huge though

Its five on five time though ... and they both average around 8 minutes of five on five with that line per night.
That gets you down to 2 goals
