Junk.
17-1 shots in the third. And it was a penalty shot.
Shouldn’t have been a 5 on 3 and Germans should’ve had a 5 minute penalty before that.
Pinball goal that was going 6 feet wide.

WTF? Did Germany actually score 4 goals on 15 shots?

It's funny, this will be the most successful Olympics as a country, but because our most visible teams - M/W Curling & M/W Hockey - underperformed, many people will feel this is a failure.

It's not.

Women's hockey team - expected to win Gold
Men's hockey team - expected to at least be in the Gold medal game
Men's traditional Curling team - expected to win Gold
Women's traditional Curling team - expected to win Gold

In total, we have 1 Silver and potentially a Bronze to show for it rather than 4 Gold's

Great

That was some sloppy hockey. Canada sent a team that didn't - couldn't - do anything well. Not a lot of speed, minimal skill, couldn't intimidate, weak goaltending. This is disappointing, but not as unexpected...except the part where we lost to Germany by allowing 4 freaking goals.

With this result I am expecting the Czechs to take the bronze.

Germany is a great story though. Upsets both Sweden and Canada to guarantee themselves a medal in hockey. Damn do I hope they upset the Russians, too.

Rene Bourque under the leadership of Willie Desjardins. Just saying.

People should honestly feel more excited than anything else.

To set a new record for most total medals in a Winter Olympics by winning medals across so many different disciplines is beyond exciting.

However, our hockey and curling teams were complete disasters and epic failures

An NHL loaded roster squeaked by most of the same German team 2-1 at the World Hockey Championships. God, your an embarrassment with your constant crying.

This. Germany's already secured at minimum the best medal in mens hockey the country has ever achieved. They got bronze twice before, in 1976 and 1932. Might as well complete the miracle now. Could use a big growth boost for the game in Germany anyways.

That argument makes sense for countries like Finland or Switzerland. Countries that don't have much depth outside of the NHL.

As for Canada, we're by far the greatest hockey nation on earth and sending our 23 best players outside of the NHL shouldn't drop our expectations. In fact, I would argue the NHL not going should've raised our expectations (minus OAR) if anything considering our talent depth outside of the NHL.

I would say that this hockey team met expectations. A team made up of overseas players and a couple of NHL rejects was not going to win gold. Would have been worse to lose to the Russians in the final. The loaded OAR will put this German team in its place.

Certainly this does not take the shine off the rest of the Canadian team. Considering the level of funding in Canada and the fact that we have significant doping controls,we have done really well.
