Scotties Tournament of Hearts Offical Thread
Any curling fans following the Scotties?
I haven't really followed curling in a few years, but this year's tournament is in my home town. Hoping to take the little one to a few afternoon games next week, and of course have a beer at the Heartstop Lounge.

Yup. I'll piggyback that pick. I like the mix of the Carey rink.
However, the addition of Jocelyn Peterman to Jennifer Jones' Team Canada is pretty huge. She's stepped in well to take Jill Officer's second spot.

Any idea if this will be streamable legally in the US? Caught the Roar of the Rings last year on espn’s streaming service and was loving it.
Edit: just checked espn website and they have full coverage every single day. Love it.

This play in game has been bonkers. Both teams really struggling with the ice.
Need Scheidegger to win though as there is no need for 3 Manitoba rinks to be in this thing.
Tied at 6 going to 10 with the Lethnridge girls holding the hammer.

Scheidegger draws full 4 with her last rock to move on 7-6.
First couple draws could be interesting as the ice is really different than these ladies are used to.
I see Chelsea opens up against Manitoba...thats likely a big game right off the hop.

The ice in that game was all over the place, seemed really random.
It's been below freezing here for a while now, and Centre 200 has a new ice plant so I'm surprised there isn't some consistency there (but I'm no expert on curling ice).
Good crowd there tonight, but the wildcard game was free to attend. Ticket sales were slower than expected so I don't know what the crowds will be like all week. Hopefully the excitement of this game will entice more to attend.

Scheidegger hasn't had a great year after going to the Scotties last year for Alberta. Hopefully she has a good tournament I like the addition of the wild card game to both the Scotties and the Brier would like the game to remain going forward.

Chelsea steals her first game against Manitoba...literally. A steal in 10 to win 7-6 after Fleury had a wide open draw to the 8' and came up about 15' short...really odd miss.
Now the Jennifer Jones lovefest gets underway.

Oh ya...and huge kudos to the girls from Nunavut as they win the first EVER game at a Scotties for that territory beating Quebec.
Oh and the home town team from NS .........yeesh. Up 6-3 going to the 10th....give up 4 to lose.

Currently top ten in the world in money and top five in Canada, that a pretty good season so far. Qualified for the wild card game because of the good season they are having. And are the 3rd ranked team at the Scotties, really just struggled at provincials. Would much rather see both the wild card teams in the Scotties vs including all the territories and the maritime teams. I'm a tradionalist as much as anyone but a national championship should include the best teams.

LOL....she looks like she is uber nervous too. Though they do look OK on her
Some really bad curling/ice knowledge thus far by a lot of teams.
PEI stole 4 points in 2 ends against NFLD.

Only followed the provincials this year thanks for that. She won tonight against the Yukon off to a good start.

Well she is a cosmetologist...so I am sure she'll be OK...
Little known fact, Robyn grew up in the same town in West Central Sask. as Sandra Schmuler, Biggar.

I missed the morning draw, was Alberta the feature game?
I mean i get that Jones and Homan are part of this thing, but we have seen them curl a ton the last few years...would it be a lot to ask to maybe show a former winner of this event a couple times? Like...right now she is playing McCarville from No. Ont. who was the other finalist when Carey won this thing 3 years ago.

Scored free tickets for tomorrow's afternoon draw.
A - Northwest Territories v Wildcard
B - Canada v Yukon
C - New Brunswick v Prince Edward Island
D - Saskatchewan v Newfoundland and Labrador
I'm not sure what game is televised. If it's sheet A, I'll totally bring the little guy with his Flames jersey on.

Crazy game....Scheidegger just stole 2 in the 9th to tie.
Jennifer Jones on the ropes down 1 coming home without hammer.
Both teams looking at their 1st loss.
