Does anybody think it's wrong to seek consensus to change an offensive name? They're basically saying "we won't change it unless all the Inuit are offended".
When the leader of the most important national Inuit organization said it was offensive, I figured a name change was only a few years away. But nope... Not until they've pissed everyone off.

New playoff format habe been floated.
Quote:
Here’s an idea that’s been floated (in the CFL). The first-place teams in the East and West would win their divisions and would host a playoff game — the same as we currently have. The difference would be that the third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-place teams in the league would make the playoffs, regardless of division. Third would play sixth and fourth would play fifth. It makes the late-stage competition for a playoff game more important. Here’s the next change: After the two semi-final games are played on Saturday, Sunday would be decision day for the first-place team. On a nationally broadcast show, the first-place team would pick who they’re playing from the (two semi-final winners).

That's better, but it shouldn't be the two division winners, it should be the top two teams in the league getting the bye and then picking their opponent after the semi's are played.

EDIT: if the “choice” was between two equal teams, I’d almost be inclined to flip a coin on national tv to decide. Because you know the team you do “pick” is coming in with a chip on their shoulder as the “inferior” opponent...

He wasn't getting the big offers he was expecting from Canadian teams so I can see why he may want to try the XFL as he gets claimed he immediately gets weekly cheques in USD.

Derel Walker better have some XFL opportunities because the CFL ones are drying up...
Former Ottawa Redblacks’ receiver Dominique Rhymes has signed with the B.C. Lions, per sources.
Rhymes caught 102 passes for 1,578 yards and six touchdowns over three seasons in Ottawa. His best year came in 2019 when the 26-year-old hauled in 65 balls for 1,056 yards and five touchdowns while averaging 16.2 yards per catch.

It’s crazy to think that Mitchell is the only QB in franchise history to win two Grey Cups as a starting QB.

What kind of nonsense is this?
Quote:
The Canadian Football League’s collective bargaining agreement contains provisions that virtually assure that some of the best Canadian players on the planet will never set foot in the CFL.
And unless something changes, it’s going to block the Toronto Argonauts’ efforts to land receiver T.J. Jones, a Canadian-born player who starred for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before playing 45 National Football League games with the New York Giants and Detroit Lions from 2015 to 2019.
This is all because the CBA – signed last spring by the CFL and the Canadian Football League Players’ Association – restricts rookie Canadian players to three-year contracts for at, or slightly above, the league minimum $65,000 (Cdn.) per season.
Jones accepted an offer of $200,000 per season from the Argos earlier this month, despite receiving multiple offers from NFL teams. All of that, however, is on hold. And unless the CFLPA approves changes to the language of the CBA – which have been approved by the league – he’s never going to play in the CFL.
“After speaking with the CFL and CFLPA leadership, it’s clear to me that rookie minimums were never meant to apply to Canadian players coming back from the NFL,” said Jones’ agent Rob Fry. “It is in all parties’ interests that Canadian players coming back from the NFL – who are not professional rookies – have the ability to garner their market value in the CFL. Otherwise, the reality is there won’t be any Canadian players with NFL experience in the CFL."

First coming of age as a sports fan in Calgary in the early 90s really taught me some #### about the unforgiving heartbreak and cruelty that comes with sports fandom, especially in the playoffs. I like to think it helped me survive through the past couple years of donkey punches as a New Orleans Saints fan.
And looking at that picture again reminds me how the Stamps uniforms have always been great. I totally understand why they got rid of it, but man did those double old west pistols really complete the black jersey.
