Earlier today Evan Blass sent this Tweet out.

Evan has a track record of leaks (he's the original "leaker" in this industry) that are pretty much 100%. He's always correct.

As far as I'm concerned this confirms the 'iPhone X' name.

Sept. 12th will the be Apple Event (announcement of new devices, etc)

Sept. 15th will be pre-order day.

Sept. 22nd will be release day.

Makes it all interesting with the Note8 (yes, that's how it's spelled) being released on Sept. 15th.

I'd say this is the only substantive change iPhone's have made since the finger print scanner. Just need to make them waterproof and they'll be competitive with phones from 2014.
I'm excited for wireless charging.

The current line of iPhones are waterproof already. It's actually one of the main reasons I'm excited to upgrade.

Yeah, the 7S looks like it should be a nice upgrade from my 5S. I kind of wish though that at some point, the strength of the phone would start to take some priority, so bulky Otter cases wouldn't be needed to get the phone from getting scratches or destroyed so easily.

They're waterproof now? Sweet. With wireless charging and Apple's quality, this new phone is going to be awesome.

I think the iPhone 7 is only rated as IP67, whereas the future models look like IP68, not sure if that is all of them, or only the iPhone 8.

Lots of info leaking today: https://9to5mac.com/2017/09/08/ios-1...one-8-details/

^ facial recognition demo, etc at this link.

What we know as:

iPhone 7s = iPhone 8

iPhone 7s Plus = iPhone 8 Plus

iPhone 8 = iPhone X

--------------------------------

So to recap, expect:

iPhone 8
iPhone 8Plus
iPhone X

Looks like the new phone will cost about $1200. With apple care, taxes and a case, likely over $1500.

So I've been tasked with getting a new Macbook Air for someone at my office. Is there likely to be a refresh, discontinuation, price drop, etc. for the basic Macbook Air at the next Apple event coming up?

It isn't my money, so I'm not too bothered. Just curious what the rumblings are.

The update has a new CPU but other wise it is identical to the 2015 model. It is extremely unlikely anything MacBook Air is announced tomorrow as this update was just a few months ago.

The iPhone X could be in extremely short supply for a while:

Quote:
KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo offered his latest predictions for Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) new iPhone ahead of tomorrow's event.

First, Kuo said he expects OLED iPhone will enter mass production in mid-September, but no significant ramp up until 4Q17F. "Due to component supply constraints, we estimate current production of the OLED iPhone at less than 10k units per day, which means the model will remain in severe short supply for a while," Kou commented. "Furthermore, we estimate that the gold version of the OLED iPhone will encounter some production problems and will initially be available only in extremely low volume. There is even a chance that the gold version will go on sale at a later date than the other versions. However, we believe these shipment delays will have a limited impact on the shares of Apple and its supply chain members."
https://www.streetinsider.com/Analys.../13283253.html

10K per month seems like a crazy low yield. Even with a ramp up towards the end of the year, could take months to catch up to pre-orders.

^ I read today that February is the projection for supply to meet demand.

So is the Series 3 standalone or does it still need an iPhone? Wonder what the battery life on that is going to be.

Okay, I guess 18 hours is it.

Hmm.. $399 US isn't bad. Only on Bell though.

Standalone looks like. They say the battery life is up to 18 hours on a mix of LTE, bluetooth and Wifi.

EDIT: I'm impressed that they could fit the cellular stuff in there without making it bigger.

Wonder how texting would work on that. Maybe voice to text.

When we were in China we saw some kid's watches that had cellular integrated into them. They weren't much bigger than an Apple Watch. They didn't do much, but they had video calling, GPS, and the cellular.

There's already voice to text built into messaging.
