Default Destroying VHS tapes

Good Day,

I'm looking for the best, cheapest, and most ethical way to destroy VHS tapes, I have about 15 boxes of VHS tapes of homemade pornography that I would like to destroy and guarantee is never seen again. Does anyone know of a cheap confidential service in Calgary or an easy method that one can do on their own?

Here is an example of why I need the tapes destroyed.

Spoiler!

Burning is bad for the environment? Not sure if that is a thing but also do not want to transport off site and risk losing tapes etc.

I just got thrown on this yesterday so Iron Mountain was looked at and deemed to costly.

Given the heat we are going to get today, maybe they would just melt if you left them out in the parking lot.

Saw thread title, clicked on thread to make porn joke. Joke already made in OP, left feeling disappointed.

Maybe unreel the tapes, and melt/burn that portion. The plastic could then probably be sent to recycling.

Dismantle tapes (use an electric drill for the screws)
Magnets on the magnetic tape
Cut or use shredder on magnetic tape
Recycle plastic

I did something similar with a pile of floppy disks a few months ago.

EDIT:

"Surveillance" eh? Mmm hmm. Are you, perchance, somehow connected with Chicken on the Way?

Burn them, that's we did in the past especially if you want to be 100% certain. We would pull out the reels and recycle the plastic but any tape of film was always burned.
