very limited time.

I'm sure this will be the same. If there is one thing you can count on Nintendo to do, it's botch a popular offering.

Raspberry pi emulator is 10x better anyways.

1) Real hardware with flash carts. The cons are no upgraded video or connectors for most. (I have my NES HDMI modded)

2) Raspberry Pi. The cons I prefer real controller for the system so I opt for the above. (Real controllers can be added just a bit of a pain easier to use PS3/4 controllers or similar)

3) Nes/Snes Classic Mini. Looks cool but just an underpowered/low storage emulator but good controllers

If I could get Super Mario Kart to play nice with my Pi I wouldn't even be considering one of these

What issues do you have with it? The SMK cartridge had a special chip in it that was similar to the SuperFX chip that StarFox and Donkey Kong used and it doesn't play nice with some emulators unless you get an authentic SNES bios to use with it. But if you're on RetroPie, just set your SNES emulator to Snes9X, it has no issues playing any game I've tried on it

No main menus, and 2nd player driver sprite is messed.

Unfortunately I picked up an already assembled unit, and can't change the emulator.

I was rather surprised it didn't run properly, figured they'd default to 9x.

8bitdo makes Bluetooth NES and SNES controllers that are as close to the real thing as you can get from a 3rd party. Or if you prefer a cheaper wired solution the Buffalo SNES controllers are great as well. The dpad and buttons feel identical to a real SNES controller

That actually sounds like an issue with the rom itself then, if it was an emulator/bios issue it shouldn't even boot. I would look around for the No-Intro SNES rom set and pull SMK from it, that's the gold standard for rom accuracy

And even if you got a pre-built unit, if it's running RetroPie you can change the emulator used for any system/game at any time. Just look through some of the guides

I'm pretty sure that's the one I pulled it from. I'll have another look though. Also tried the EU version, did the same thing.

But I'll track down a couple more roms and see if there's one that doesn't glitch.

Has Amazon actually announced this somewhere or is it someone's speculation/inside info? I can't see them doing a special midnight pre-order thing without promoting it.

Good question, they aren't clear. "I’ve received confirmation Amazon will have preorders available this Friday midnight pacific time so 3am for us here in Toronto." is what they said.

No idea, could also just be a troll as they haven't replied to any questions.

Probably the same reason why you can't preorder the Xbone x. No FCC.

Who knows though. Glad to have locked in internationally already.

https://www.i4u.com/2017/06/123553/n...proval-missing

Because there is no FCC approval yet, Microsoft and its retail partners are not offering the Xbox One X for pre-order.

It is out of Microsoft's hands when the FCC approval will be granted. The Xbox One X announcement was on June 11. An FCC approval doesn't come through in a matter of days. It is weeks and possible months. It is likely the same situation for Nintendo. Therefore the pre-order for the SNES Classic will at the earliest happen end of July.

A wide ranging pre-sale of the SNES Classic might also not happen at all. The pre-orders for the NES Classic were only available briefly at a few stores including Target, ToysRUs and Amazon.
