Any chance one of the networks pick up some AHL playoff games now that it is the conference finals. Or will AHLTV be the only way to watch.

One thing that strikes me when scanning Wolf’s hockeydb is the amount of games he has played vs other goalie prospects. Even this year, 47 pro games + playoffs, thats huge for a 21 year old goalie.
As someone that hasn't watched Wolf I look at his size and see he's listed at 6 ft. Is that a concern for him making the jump to the NHL for you?

You didn't ask me but my answer would be no, not at all. He's one of the most athletic players — regardless of position — I've ever seen. Mesmerizing to watch.

Talked to Matthew Phillips about Wolf the other day and he had a pretty good quote — something along the lines of, "no matter when I shoot, he's always square." His lateral movement is just ridiculous.

It's easier to be less concerned about Wolf's size when you look at the Vezina Trophy finalists and Shesterkin is listed at 6'1" and Saros is 5'11".

Yeah after doing some research I noticed there's quite a few notable goalies 6' or under.

Casey DeSmith - Penguins
Pavel Franouz - Colorado
Antti Raanta - Canes

You just kinda get lost in it a bit seeing these huge goalies 6'4 or taller having success in Binnington, Vaselevsky, Markstrom, Bishop, Oettinger, Swayman.

I am really looking forward to watching a bunch of heat games in person next season and likely meeting a lot of CP members along the way.

Going to be real interesting to see how the Heat match up with another top team when they haven't played any non divisional opponents all year.

It's almost like two top teams from different leagues suddenly playing each other.

Could be a close battle or an ass kicking either way.

Yeah, it will be interesting. Based on the league standings, it would appear the Heat had a tougher division this year.

Manitoba had the second-best record in the Central Division behind Chicago. The Moose had the same points percentage as Bakersfield and Abbostford, who finished 4th and 5th in the Pacific.

In the overall league standings, 5 of the top 10 teams were in the Pacific.

Yeah I noticed that about the Pacific, but then I figured that since those teams only played each other all season I'm not really sure if it means anything. If they had 5 of the top 10 teams while playing everyone in the league then it would hold more weight IMO.

Looking forward to seeing how it shakes out.

You didn't even include the best goalie under 6' Juuse Saros.

Correct, they may have 5 of the top 10 simply because they have some of the worse teams.

The records are basically meaningless, as it's impossible to know the true level of competition until the play each other.

GAME NOTES

The Western Conference Finals get underway tonight with Chicago hosting Stockton in Game 1 at Allstate Arena... Tonight marks the first-ever game between the Wolves and Heat, who finished the regular season as the top two teams in the AHL... Chicago earned the Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy ― and with it home-ice advantage in this series ― by overtaking Stockton on the last day of the season... The Wolves are coming off a 3-1 series victory over Milwaukee in the Central Division Finals, and have won six straight home games since their last loss on Apr. 23... The Heat defeated Colorado in the Pacific Division Finals, three games to one, with Dustin Wolf tying an AHL record with three shutouts in a single series... Wolf (6-1, 1.82, .941), who did not register a single shutout during the regular season, is also the first AHL goaltender to post three in one postseason since Michael Hutchinson for St. John’s in 2014... Justin Kirkland (5-2-7) scored four goals in the last round vs. Colorado, including all three game-winning tallies... Matthew Phillips (3-4-7) is tied with Kirkland for the Stockton playoff scoring lead... Wolves forward Josh Leivo (6-7-13) has points in all seven games for Chicago this postseason, including a hat trick in the series-clinching win over Milwaukee last Friday... Jack Drury (5-4-9), Stefan Noesen (5-4-9) and Andrew Poturalski (3-6-9) have nine points each during the playoffs... Alex Lyon (6-1, 1.87, .926) has allowed two goals or fewer in six of his seven playoff starts and owns a .936 save percentage in 20 career Calder Cup Playoff appearances... Chicago (99-77) is bidding for its 100th Calder Cup Playoff victory all-time, a milestone reached by only six other AHL franchises (Hershey Bears, Rochester Americans, Cleveland Barons, Springfield Indians/Kings, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Providence Bruins).

Stockton/Chicago tied 1–1 after 20, liking the Heat so far. Juuso is having a good game. Wolf sharp. Philp with his first AHL playoff goal.
