Easy to call people out now... but if people were so sure that the BJs we’re going to win the betting odds were in your favor. Post up you receipts haha

Never thought i'd see the Jackets up 3-0 in games. This could turn into one of the biggest first round upsets since the 71 Canadiens and rookie goaltender Ken Dryden shocked the heavily favoured Bruins, who were expected to win the Cup that year.

i don't think people thought Columbus was going to win the series, just that it's the playoffs and anything is possible...
some posters were pretty adamant TB was going to destroy columbus... and that TB was a lock to go to the Finals... History showed that wasn't the case.
good for Columbus and their long suffering fanbase... winning a playoff series was hugely important to them - that's why they didn't sell off Bob and Panarin at the TDL - so it's cool to see that risk on the verge of paying off for them

I'd argue the 2010 Caps losing to the Habs in the first round may have been a bigger shocker than 71.

I dunno why this is leading me here... but I wish the Flames would take the ‘z-‘ off their Twitter handle.
The regular season is long gone...

Whenever people begin declaring regular season powerhouses Stanley Cup champs before teams have even skated for game 1 of their series, I always think back to a good example of why people shouldn't. Many people here would remember the year Brad May scored the series clinching goal (sweep at that) vs Boston in 1993. "May Day! May Day!" was the call of the moment. It was memorable to say the least.
I'm not going to put it down here, but check the regular season records of both teams heading into the playoffs that year. Boston was red hot and Buffalo was ice cold. No one saw the Sabres winning that series, let alone sweeping the Bruins out the way they did.
A cautionary tale for all you younger folk here in CP.
And no, I would have never seen this coming. CBJ up 3 - 0 vs TB?! Yowsers!

Not so sure about that. The 2010 Caps finished - 54-15-13 (121 points) while the 71 Bruins finished - 57-14-7 (121 points).
Equal I would say

Hmm, yes. I see no reason to assume otherwise.

Had an idea!

Fair point that people expected the Lighting to win and even sweep. They completely dominated teams in the regular season. I guess you just don't really know how they'll react in the playoffs, but I think their guys are not playing up to their potential at all right now, nor do they seem to realize they should.
As good as Cooper has been the last few years, I think the whole series is more massive coaching incompetence than anything else.

Just saw the final score from tonight. Wow, I don't think anybody could have predicted this. This is quickly turning into one of the greatest upsets of all time.

Predicting a heavy favorite to lose is a rather convenient position to take. If you guess wrong, hey, no problem, the underdog was supposed to lose. If you guess right, you can go around telling people you told them so.
