Stajan's been a good soldier for the Flames since his trade here. That being said, the time is nigh for him. As great as he is as a professional and a heart and soul guy, there comes a time for them all.

I just hate to see the latter at this point in his career, in what is probably his last contract (last year I said I wouldn't mind him re-signed on a low cost contract, but time may have caught up to him).
Fair point. It is true that when someone becomes replaceable in the NHL they are replaced. The next few months will tell what the Flames management thinks about Stajan's "replaceablity"

Yeah. The time was up for Wideman at the beginning of last year, and it's looking like the time could be totally up for Stajan right now.

I'd play him tonight actually, but his near future prospects of playing look very, very bleak to put it seriously.

Blues have 2nd worst PK in the league, so good opportunity for the Flames to get their PP going; Blues also have one of the worst PP in the league, so a special teams battle might not be the worst thing for the Flames

Blues have a very active blueline that jumps into the play a lot. Too bad Smith isn't in net tonight, as his puck handling ability would help negate a big part of the Blues offense

I hope not. It's his first start of the season. Even if anyone doesn't like the player, there needs to be leeway.

St Louis was flying on Saturday night in LV and probably deserved that game with around 50 shots on net or more. Flames better be ready for them coming out flying again.

These classic Blues jerseys not existing this year is a crime against hockey fashion. What a gorgeous kit!
At least they are not these eyesores.

So yesterday, Johnny showed us who the better Gaudreau was in the game so I believe tonight Sam will show us who the better Bennett is. Sam will get the monkey off his back with a hat trick (Gordie Howe style!)

Not to discount their effort in that game, since I never watched, it's just that your comment reminded me of something I had looked into this morning.

By pts%, the top 5 teams in the league:
SF/GP - 32.3
SA/GP - 33.5

By pts%, the bottom 5 teams in the league:
SF/GP - 35.1
SA/GP - 32.5

Do we worry too much about shots, both for and against? We keep hearing that we're allowing too many shots against for what is considered a top defense in this league, yet the Flames only allow 1.3 SA/GP more (34.8) than the average of the top 5 teams. The Flames allow exactly as many shots against as the Lightning, a team considered by many to be a Stanley Cup contender this year.

This post would have been better served in a thread on the subject, but I glossed over a couple pages and didn't see a suitable thread for it. Meh.

Those look great compared to the ones Mike Keenan supposedly refused to have the team wear.

IMO yes!
Shot count is way too subjective and downright bias in many buildings (LA).
It has only gotten worse since PDO became fashionable.
