This is probably not the place for it, but I'm late-night browsing CP and didn't want to start a new thread.
In a new place and the furnace is being weird. I set up the thermostat schedule to something that works with our schedule. It seems to be following that just fine. However, when I'm home during the day - or the 'away' portion of the schedule - and try to temporarily override the settings in order to warm things up a little, there is no response.
I thought it might be the thermostat so I installed a new one. No dice - same issue. I hear that familiar 'click' in the thermostat when I up the temp a little, but nothing kicks in at the furnace. I've tried googling it, but maybe I'm not using the proper phrases. I plan on contacting the landlord but would love to solve it myself if I could as that kind of thing bugs me.
Furnace works fine heating things up on it's scheduled settings.

Wanted to throw my 2 cents in... Just had Keith come to my house this morning to perform a furnace service/inspection/tune up along with a cleaning to all the vents/ducts.
I wish i had known about Keith when i had my furnace last cleaned. He is very professional, knowledgeable and took the time to explain what was performed in the service. Also gave some helpful tips! The last company i used was in and out and I didn't even really know what i had paid for. When it comes to furnaces and with the Calgary weather climate you rely on this type of service to be up to par (especially now that we have a toddler) and i feel Keith exceeded that expectation.
Thanks again Keith, I will recommend you and continue using you for future services.
Cheers!

Hey Keith...what do you know about humidifiers?
Dont know if you remember the one on our furnace, but its a flow through type. In the last week or so the water continues to flow through and down the drain regardless of whether furnace is on or not. And when furnace IS on, it seems to be flowing much more than it should. I'm assuming the little solenoid valve is shot?? Kind of sucks as it's not even two yrs old.

Hey
Yeah solenoids have a tendency to get burned out allot as they are all water cooled. Some seize on constantly so the only thing to do is turn water off until it can be replaced.
Dyi is the best option unless youwantto drop $200.00 on a service call.

Thanks Keith...any recommendations as to where to pick one up at?
I did a bit of googling and looks like they're just under a $100. Seems pretty steep, but what isn't anymore I guess.

HE225.
I see Amre has them for $85. I'll probably just go there and grab it unless you think there'd be a better price elsewhere?

Hey Guys,
Thanks to all the great reviews and recommendations, I contacted Keith and had him come by and service my furnace. Keith is a wealth of information, hard working, super honest and did a fantastic job on my furnace. He took the furnace unit apart (literally), cleaned and checked it out thoroughly. He even caught an error by the installers and sealed a vent to balance out my HVAC system. Couldn't be happier with his work and have been raving about him to friends. He is my furnace guy from now on. Highly recommend Keith! A++

Had Keith come by and he did a great job again. Be proactive and spend a little money now instead of a lot when things go belly up in your utility room.
Thanks again Keith!
