What a great town. I've been a few times to the Broadmoor for conferences. Great vibe. Lots to do outdoors. People are nice. Airport is a problem....quick 30 minute flight to Denver do get to the big planes.
But hey....at least it's not the 9th most dangerous city in 'merica.

Yeah, no. The AHL, like everyone else, reports tickets distributed.

I’ll reply later with the back story on the wonderful poster from the 1983/84 season of the Colorado Flames.
Gotta love those uniforms...

Some familiar names, and some not so familiar (Todd Hooey anyone?).

The flaming C makes a lot of sense for the Colorado Flames. Never understood why the Saint John Flames had a flaming C, though. You talk about the lack of identity of Flames AHL affiliates...

I think I had a couple hockey cards years ago that called him Allan. From very early in his career.

Those yellow c and A’s!
Wrong spelling of Neil Sheehy.
Mario Simoni looked like an absolute unit...but closest he got to the NHL...Lit it up in Asiago in Italy the next 5 seasons though with 570 points in 230 games.

I got his autograph when I was a kid, shortly after we won the Cup and he signed his name Allan

The person that originally received this poster was attending a Colorado Flames game at the long ago imploded McNichols Arena in Denver.
He was originally from Detroit, moved to Colorado for work and was starved for hockey. At the time the Colorado Flames were the best hockey in the state. At a home game during the Flames 1983 season the Rocky Mountain News (no longer around 1859-2009) sponsored the poster giveaway and he kept it for all these years.
Since my cubicle is littered with Calgary Flames gear, I just became the lucky recipient of this nice part of Flames history.

Holy crap, that poster takes me back. I lived in Denver for a few years when I was a kid (grades 2-6). Danny Bolduc was a neighbor of ours and he used to give us free tickets all the time.
I also attended Pierre Page's hockey school one year.

All I can get

The Colorado College Tigers do reasonably well in attendance for a NCAA school (I think 20th over all, around 3,500 average). Can an AHL team top that? I wonder.

Up until a couple of years ago, they were averaging over 6,000 consistently.
That was with a team that hasn't had a winning record (or made the NCAA tournament) since 2010-11. Between 2013-14 and 2016-17, they didn't win 10 games in any single season.
https://www.uscho.com/stats/attendance/division-i-men/
The college only has about 2000 students, so they're obviously pulling in fans from the community as a whole too. Maybe an AHL team will do well.

Are other AHL franchises as unstable as Calgary's? It seems they've been moving this team around every 2 to 3 years going back to the mid 90's. I don't understand why they can't seem to find a good home.

Some do. From 2005- now the Blues have had 4. The Kings went thru 4 in 5 years before settling in Manchester for 15 years (and then they moved to their present one). The Habs have had 3 in the last 5 years. TB went thru 4 in 4 years. Avs have had 3 in 3 years and have had 5 over 15 years.
