Also, as the league grows, it will attract, develop and promote better players both Canadian and international. I'm hoping with more teams, more international attention, and a growing salary cap, the league becomes a desired proving ground for many players and a top choice priority for players to play in when looking at their soccer career. I have a large suspicion that a player like Jair Cordova is a good example of this - coming to a league that has proved itself and in a market that seems to be attracting attention from and exposure to MLS and Europe.
To add to this, and not to sound crass, but Canada surely has to be a desirable place to play for players from poorer countries. Political stability, not having to chase your pay check, safety and low crime rates, equality under the law, etc.
If the league itself doesn’t necessarily attract players, the opportunity to simply live in this amazing country might.

That would actually be pretty cool haha... although he's retired, no? Maybe Tommy could convince the former Chelsea / Man City'er to play one more year!

That's what I'm sayin' lol. Maybe he convinced him while at the PGA tourney this past weekend!

We lost Waterman. In his place, I'm hoping Andreas Pirlo decides to come out of retirement and help us win the CPL championship.
Don't be a coward Andreas, just get your ass here, even if you're 40 years old!
Andrea Pirlo Cavalry jerseys would be flying off the shelves and online at a ridiculous pace, just for the sheer novelty.
Unless they can sign him for $50k plus 50+% of merchandise sales and circumvent the cap, might be a tough sell. I do think the league needs to integrate DPs in the next season or two for this reason though. Get the casuals stoked to come pay to see a few recognizable names. Don’t want to be a retirement league, but there’s a reason MLS, A-League, Chinese Super League and Indian Super League (to name a few) sought out some name players.
This one makes sense if true, since he’s former Foothills and started following Cavalry on instagram.
Shermanator would know better, but I don’t recall him being a midfielder. I thought he was a left wing/left WB for FC Edmonton. I might be thinking of his brother though.

Zebie is a centre mid, but played at RB last year. He was a centre mid for the 2 years he played with Foothills, and paired well with Ledgerwood and Adekugbe the year they won the title. IMO he is a small step down from Adekugbe, but they play a very similar game.
I feel dirty giving legitimacy to a Thomas Nef Tweet, but this move would make a lot of sense.
Tommy wanted to sign him last year but he elected to play at home. Cavalry don't have nearly the depth at centre mid with the departures of Buscher and Waterman, and haven't officially announced a RB. And Zebie has a similar game to Adekugbe from the two years I saw him play with Foothills.
Wouldn't be a starter but would be solid depth.

Also, toward the end of the video, there's "a Brazillian who Tommy Wheeldon thinks might be the best attacking player in the league!" OK, now that really has my attention!

It is really good that an 8th team will be playing. 7 was a poor number, and growth adds a little legitimacy to what is otherwise a very small league.
That said, I still think that we will bump into fatigue while playing the same team 4 times. I hope that when the league expands to 9- 10 teams that they switch to facing each team 3 times. Making, say the one time you face Edmonton at home, more of a spectacle.
